A-Frame of Mind Retreat

Get away to a quiet and serene retreat in the forest surrounded by tall trees and creeks and just a short walk to the Sandy River at the A-Frame of Mind Retreat in Rhododendron. This charming little cabin is in a secluded 7 acre setting offering the ideal location for a romantic getaway or a solitude vacation to refresh and rejuvenate. This studio a-frame cabin has lots of windows and natural light on each end with views of the tall Douglas Fir and cedar trees all around. Take a pleasant 10-minute walk along an unmarked forest path to the Sandy River. With snow on the ground during the winter months, bring your snowshoes for exploring the property.

The vaulted living area includes a double futon that opens up to a bed with warm and cozy comforters. You will wake up in the morning and look out at the forest. The cabin is heated with electric heaters and a cute woodstove for added ambiance. The kitchen, while small has everything you need for a dinner for two with a range, microwave, and refrigerator plus pots, pans, and utensils. You will not want to leave the cabin, however, when you decide to venture out, you will be just minutes to dozens of hiking and mountain biking trails and 30 minutes or less to ski areas. Your dog is welcome to join you for an additional charge.

Loved the home and the stay! I think my only complaint was that it felt a little overpriced for what we were getting. With just a 2 person (and a dog) AirBnB, the total price of over $600 for two nights felt like a lot. I did appreciate the remoteness and the beauty of the location, but think the value could be better.

We came for a short weekend and wish we could stay longer. The cabin is beautiful and cozy. There is a hiking trail just steps away with views of gorgeous trees, so many cool mushrooms, and the river. We are going to try and make a yearly trip out here!

A Frame of Mind

Location was terrific! So quiet, yet close to the road and to town. The cabin was small, but very cute and had everything we needed! The futon was very uncomfortable to sleep on, tho. Maybe supply some kind of mattress pad and better pillows to make it more comfortable? Loved the fireplace! Bathroom was very tiny but clean and functional. Front door lock and handle need fixed so entry is easier. Property managers were able to give us a key so we could avoid using the keypad for entry as it did not function well. Still had trouble with the key as well, so hopefully the lock/handle is replaced or repaired!

It’s a lovely spot. I had a wonderful time there with my dog hiking in the area. My only feedback is please put up a sign to tell people how to use the keypad. It is not intuitive. You have to activate it by putting your palm on it, it is not a touchscreen and there are no visible buttons. And also, please tell guests they need to enter an asterix after they put in their code. This information is not provided in the check-in documents. I arrived late after a very long hike and was panicked when I wasn’t able to get in. I had to drive back to town to get cell coverage to make a phone call for assistance. Customer service was very nice and they knew exactly what the problem was but it would have been unnecessary if I just had correct information to begin with. Beyond that it might be helpful to have a few designated areas for guests to put items they bring because the space is fairly tight and most of the surfaces already have something on them. But aside from that it was really delightful. Thank you so much.

The stay was great and the views were beautiful! We found that the TV was not responding to the provided remote, so it was unusable. However, we didn't really plan to stay for the TV so not a huge issue. Also, the futon mattress should probably be replaced soon as there's not much fluff to it anymore. We definitely would plan to stay again!
