Thistle Dew, a completely renovated historic cabin along the Salmon River in Welches has been the center of Mt Hood memories for more than a century. Settle in at this cozy cabin with river views from most every room, the riverfront back deck and the grassy backyard. During the summer months dip your toes in the cool river water, during the late summer and early fall watch the salmon spawning with a backdrop of fall colors and in the winter, stay cozy and warm inside with a frosting of snow along the river's edge. Relax in the private, outdoor hot tub with Salmon River views.
The cabin setting is ideal for a romantic getaway with the cozy wood-filled interior and the sounds of the river flowing by. The spacious en suite bedroom includes a king bed, twin bunk beds and attached bathroom. The modern kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, range with cooktop and full-size oven, microwave, toaster and all of the pots, pans, dishes, serveware and utensils you need to prepare a fantastic meal. Grill out on the back deck on the gas BBQ with the sounds and views of the river as your backdrop.
Stay warm and cozy inside with the ambiance of a natural wood fire in the woodstove and the electric heat. During the summer months open the windows for the natural air conditioning of a cooling cross breeze. You will love the natural sunlight that streams in through the great room skylights all day long and and the nighttime view of the stars. The relaxing riverfront location will lure you to spend all of your time outside just gazing at the river with a good book, good company and a glass of good wine.

A little piece of heaven

Thistle Dew was absolutely perfect! Everything was very clean and organized and the cabin had everything I needed. The backyard was absolutely gorgeous and the hot tub was a huge bonus! It was close to a grocery store which was a huge help. I would absolutely stay here again.

Thanks for the great stay! We had some trouble figuring out the solar lights by the hot tub, but did manage to get them turned on. We enjoyed ourselves and we're able to enjoy the peaceful setting.

This was the perfect place to stay. The river is right there and nice to sit and listen to, and catch a glimpse of a fish swimming by every now and then. Close to several hiking options too. We really enjoyed our time there!

Thistle Dew lived up to our expections. The location was perfect for our activities. We really enjoyed the outside sitting area by the Salmon River. Saw a trout swim upstream, mergansers playing around, and kingfishers.

We were so pleased to find such a beautiful cozy cabin with a wonderful river front yard. The interior of the cabin was woodsy, yet modern and it had everything you need.

The bed could use replacement. Also, it would be nice if you could let guests know ahead of time what kind of coffee maker you have so they can bring coffee for it. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

If you are looking for a place where you can relax and enjoy the scenery, this place is for you. Tucked away in Welches, it’s close to all the Mt Hood activities, but very private. With your own access to the river and the hot tub, it was a nice place to relax after hiking. The kitchen is a little sparse, but otherwise a great stay

As soon as you walk through the front door, you are immediately taken into a different world. The river behind the house is absolute perfection. I had the windows open the whole
time & it was the perfect soundtrack to the relaxing weekend I needed. Plenty of hiking trails within driving distance, and when I wasn't hiking I was sitting by the river or in the hot tub. I can't wait to come back!

This place is lovely. Nice location, comfortable bed, hot tub was great, and the view of the river was super peaceful. The kitchen pans have seen better days, but otherwise, well equipped.

I would like to thank the staff at Meredith Lodging. Every time I had a question, I always received a quick reply! They are very well organized. My entire family had such an amazing time staying at the Thistle Dew! The place looks exactly like the photos in the ad. Neighbors are also so kind! They waved to us a few times. We felt so welcomed in the neighborhood. It’s so nice and peaceful! There are also board games we definitely took advantage of. There are so many things to do in the area. Thank you again so much! We will definitely be using this company again if we plan to visit Oregon!

My husband and I had a wonderful time unwinding in the cabin. The staff was very communicative before we arrived and was very helpful figuring out fishing regulations. The cabin itself was beautiful, clean and exactly what was pictured. We enjoyed wandering the Mt Hood area and eventually met up with our daughter & finance. It was a great escape for a few days and we will definitely be back to Thistle dew

Small cozy home that has been added onto over the years giving it an eclectic feel. Bathroom and main living room are updated and very nice. Quite area and provided good solitude to relax.
Heating throughout the house is by individual room heaters so some difference as you go room to room. Some information or instructions for the heating systems would be helpful.

We enjoyed everything about our stay at thistle dew. The location is phenomenal. It is a cozy cabin that is really well maintained and feels like home. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need, the fire pit by the river is great touch, and the hot tub view is amazing. We have already recommended it to our family and friends and several of them have already looked into booking. The only slight downside we had was the hot tub starting to have some issues towards the end of our stay despite us following the directions but that can easily happen with hot tubs. Didn’t impact how absolutely amazing thistle dew is. We absolutely plan on coming back!

My wife and I had the most relaxing time at the cabin. Everything from the fresh air, hot tub and overwhelming calmness was what we needed. The cabin, although surround by others is still very private due to all of the trees. Nearby trails and scenic drives made it worthwhile. The only thing we had trouble adjusting to was having so many large termites crawling around, as well as the septic tank smell in the restroom. Other than that, we will be booking this place again! We definitely recommend!

Very cute, well-maintained cabin perfect for a couple or a very small group of friends looking for a nearby place to relax after a long day of hikes (especially with the hot tub). If you’re looking for total seclusion, it’s not that but it’s still private. We loved that it was a short drive away from a grocery store and some other shops. Thistle Dew is the second cabin I’ve booked directly through Mount Hood Vacation Rentals, and both times it’s been a great experience!

This was a great cabin to stay in! Very clean and very cozy! Would definitely go back! The only minor downside was they aren’t very secluded. The cabins are right on top of each other and there’s one directly across from us and with the hot tub we didn’t care for that too much, but otherwise definitely a great place to stay!

We had the most relaxing time. The cabin is so cozy that we never wanted to leave! Definitely a little treasure in the woods. Great place. Great experience with mount hood rentals. The wood stove and hot tub were so nice to have but it was so chilly during our stay we ran out of wood. The beds are super comfy and the wifi works great. Buy a lot of food, because once your there you won’t want to leave!

We were so thrilled, from the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were absolutely in love with the place. It was a perfect getaway from all of the craziness in the world. We would definitely recommend this to others. The only things that I would say could improve the cottage, was that the padlock for the hot tub was fairly rusted, we were able to still open it, but it took a lot of finessing. Also the bed is really squeaking, and for someone who is a light sleeping, I kept waking up when either of us were turning over. I would have also liked a cushy mattress topper. Overall though we truly loved all of the fine touches, and could tell that a lot of thought was put into the decorations and set up. We will definitely be returning.

Me and my wife stayed in this cabin for a week. Went on great hikes during the day and relaxed with a nice fire in the evenings. There was a Christmas tree complete with lights set up when we got there, this really set the mood. The hot tub right by the river was incredible. We will be returning very soon!
