River Dance Retreat

River Dance Retreat in Welches is the family-favorite lodge at Mt Hood that you will want to return to for summer and winter vacations. Your kids will love the big back yard with the sandy beach along the river and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit at night. Your dogs will enjoy this mountain cabin, too, with all the room to play outside and the comfortable living space inside.

If you have a crew of cooks in your circle of friends, you will all have plenty of room in this spacious, updated kitchen for preparing fun and flavorful meals. The eat-in kitchen is perfect for passing dishes from the cooktop to the table. Or grill out on the gas BBQ on the large back deck and enjoy dinner at the picnic table by the river.

You can relax in the vaulted great room with picture windows bringing in natural sunlight and Sandy River views or hang out in the TV room watching your favorite movies and sports events.

The River Dance Retreat will comfortably accommodate 10 guests in 3 bedrooms plus the loft (1 king, 3 queens, 2 twins). There are 2 full bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs across from a queen bedroom. The primary bedroom suite upstairs includes a king bed and the 3rd bedroom upstairs has 2 queen beds. The 2 twin beds are in the loft.

The private, outdoor hot tub with the covered gazebo at the River Dance Retreat is the perfect place to relax after a day of biking, hiking, golfing, fishing, skiing or snowboarding at Mt Hood.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. it was very comfortable and had great access to the Sandy River There were some things that needed tending to. dishwasher didn't always clean the dishes. Knives were rather dull and not sharp, which is very important to us. Dull knives are more dangerous than sharp knives. Upstairs toilet tank seal was not sealing, so it was constantly refilling itself. I messaged the establishment and they said they would take care of these things.

We enjoyed all that the propety had to offer. Sitting by the river each morning enjoying our coffee and watching nature was so relaxing and a great strat to each day. The house fit all out needs and gave up plantly of room to streatch out after a day or exploring the area surrounding MT Hood.

The property location was beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. Pristine forests, and a gorgeous river. Our elderly grandma was visiting, so having a the room on the first floor was perfect. The house was well maintained, with recent updates. Clean beds, showers, plenty of towels, clean hot tub, Etc. The only dirty part was the carpets in the den need a good cleaning. The loft room with the two twin beds is very exposed, sitting right at the living room area and leads to the hallway with the other rooms. Maybe suitable for a children and heavy sleepers, but otherwise not an ideal place for sleeping. The double Queen room is surprisingly large and comfy for four grown adults. The king master suite is incredibly gorgeous and luxurious with doors leading to a porch area. Kitchen is well stocked and large enough for a big family. Very enjoyable experience.

Our only issue was that the hot tub was not hot. When we went to use it, the temperature was 89°. Brrr! Other than that, we had a great stay there, and certainly will continue to rent from you in the future.

Beautiful home and amazing view of the woods and sound of the river from each room. It was so nice to have a restaurant/grocery store so close. The only issue we had was the DVD player - we could not get it to work during our stay. Although we were not able to spend much time outside on the deck, sit by the river or walk around outside due to rain, we so enjoyed the sounds of the rain falling and would stand down by to the river and just enjoy the rushing stream of water. We are definitely planning on returning in the Spring/Summer of 2023.

The house was very warm and inviting, it worked perfectly for our group. The kitchen was stocked well enough. Plenty of towels, etc. The hot tub was set to the perfect temp. I went with your company because of the lower fees vs VRBO and Airbnb. Only real complaint is that 5PM is very late for access to property, thanks for letting us in at 4:30! The checkout instructions online are different from those posted on the fridge, so we went with the ones on the fridge. We were very happy with the rental!!

Wonderful home. Rooms were nice and spacious for our families to share. Being on the river was so amazing and peaceful. A few things, I would recommend packing all of your own spices, there's not even salt and pepper. Also, be careful of the horse shoe poles as they are very hard to see especially for children when playing in the yard. This home was not far from the mountain and there is a store and some restaurants near by. We plan to book this home again!

We've been staying there for 5 days, 3 families with small kids. Overall the house is okey, with the beautiful view and good location. The biggest issue we had was with the room on the first floor. The ceiling has no isolation, you can hear and feel literally every step upstairs and with the kids it was a disaster. It was a small house for 3 families. Not enough free space. Also the provide very limited supplies like paper towels, bath tissue, hand soap and dishwasher liquid. Very inconvenient essentially when you are spending holidays with limited store access. Also due to snow condition it was hard to get out from that neighborhood to highway. They don't have any snow shovels to use, it was a bit stressful situation for us to get out from there.

Our experience overall was magical, assisted by snow falling from Christmas Eve night through our departure. The layout of the chalet is optimal both in function and views offered to the beauty of its wooded location and the Sandy River just footsteps away. We really liked the kitchen, including its having almost any utensil desired for meal prep and serving. We were most appreciative that the hot tub was in fine working order; and, cleaned it after our final use as requested in the guest book. Now, for the other: That master bedroom bed needed replacing awhile back. Should be budgeted for 1/1/22. (One of us retreated to another upstairs bed through our stay.) Not really surprised that the firewood wasn't dry enough to burn. Bought some at a nearby store which appeared to be soft wood so not good for the chimney, but we just wanted the warmth, and glow, of the stove going during cold days and evenings in the atriumed living room area.

This was once of the nicest vacation rentals we have ever stayed in. Great wooded location. There are neighbors but they aren’t right next door. There is plenty of open space for yard games and a fire pit right next to the river along with a couple picnic tables. Hot tub was well kept and roomy. Everything in the cabin was clean, stocked, and well maintained. The rental company does a great job of stocking towels, toilet paper, dish washing stuff, and trash bags.

This rental is located in a beautiful forest setting with outside seating and dining area by a river! I would like to return to enjoy this site in the warmer spring, summer or fall. The house was very clean and the beds quite comfortable. Lots of space for a group of 7 to stay. You could easily sleep several more children in the house.

Our weekend in Riverdance was incredible! The cabin is very accomodating, marvelously located right on the Sandy River and about 30 minutes from Mt Hood Meadows for wonderful snowboarding. **River Dance - Fantastic Retreat for Friends + Family **

My friends & I booked the Riverdance home for a weekend getaway. I looked on other booking websites, and came across a recommendation to look at Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals; they offered competitive pricing and were hands-on, as needed. Betsy was super friendly, and asked about our groups' interests; we love cooking together, wanted to be by the river, play games, and watch football. Betsy made a great suggestion when I was looking at a different house; and said that the River Dance was the better fit. She was 100% right! The kitchen was large, and spacious, and had just about everything we could want! We had extra seating in the kitchen for everyone to participate in conversations as we did our meal preparations, and we even had a side table to set up a puzzle that we worked on all weekend! The house really had everything we could want. The added games, hot tub, extra towels, wood, dishes, glassware, soap, shampoo - gosh, they thought of everything! Even great wifi! The beds were super cozy, and plush, and even the bed linens were soft, clean, and I felt like I drifted away each night! It was awesome waking up in the middle of the woods, hearing the hum of the river. It's only a few yards or so from the house, but the seclusion, serenity, and peacefulness was unsurpassed. I really don't have a bad thing to say about our stay, the house, or Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals. They obliged when we asked for a later check-out (1 p.m.), and even checking out was super easy (as was checking in)! I highly recommend Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals, and think that this will be a house that we come back to again and again. If you have any concerns about booking - I wouldn't hesitate! Just do it! You won't be disappointed!

Everything was great. It felt very remote even though we were only a couple hundreds yards off the highway and you would never know it. Plenty of amenities nearby and drive to Gov. Camp was easy. Mgmt promptly addressed the water heater issue which we greatly appreciated. Would definitely stay in this house again or another of their properties. Skiing, scenery and proximity to Portland impressed our east coast friends.

River Dance Retreat is a lovely, spacious house just steps from the banks of the Sandy River. We loved the view of the river from the house and the paths along the river. We had a peaceful, restful stay. Our only complaint is the very poor wifi connection. Wifi is via a DSL line that is shared by several other homes in the area. Connection was only good very late at night and very early in the morning.

Great stay here for 4 nights--got to do a couple of waterfall hikes and go to Timberline for lunch and the weather was perfect! The cabin had everything we needed and the hot tub was fantastic! So great to hear the river and not the highway! Highly recommend this cabin --just not when I want to stay there again!

Wonderful Spur of the Moment Getaway

We were rushed getting out of town on our trip to Portland. We booked an Airbnb that ended up being 30 feet from the county hwy and pretty grimey. So we were really disappointed as we were desperately seeking some peace and quiet. We found Mt Hood Vacation Rentals and called them first thing in the morning. They understood exactly what we were looking for and were able to find a perfect rental for the rest of our stay - a very peaceful, quiet and beautiful home in the wilderness.

The set up and rental process was very simple. It was nice to be able to pick up the keys after office hours, as we came in on a Friday after getting off work. The house was in a secluded quiet area (exactly what we wanted). The house had everything we desired from the hot tub, fireplace, to the board games and close proximity to the river and mount hood. If I could make one suggestion to make the rental great, it would be to get curtains in place on all of the Windows. There were very few curtains, and a lot of windows at this house. At night it was a little uncomfortable because we felt that people could peer in at us through all of the windows. On the upside, The big windows are very nice during the day, as they let light in and you have good views of the surroundings.

We enjoyed every thing about our stay especially how great the rental office people were at helping us with our questions. My only suggestion would be to flea bomb the house. My dog had never had a flea on her. The last night I found multiple fleas on her and bites on myself. Also we had several lamps that had burnt out bulbs.

Perfect for people and dogs

The house is lovely in its design with separate spaces for different activities. The long path in a meadow like area is great for dogs and ball playing. The high windows in most of the rooms give a wonderful view of the trees.

A great escape, but so close!

We loved our stay here! Way more space than our family of 4 (with a dog) needed, but after 5 days we'd absolutely used all of the space. The Sandy River at the other end of the backyard led to us staying "home" more and getting going later in the day than we'd expected, but that's what family vacations are for, right? Morning coffee by the river and hours of birdwatching were great. The staff at Mt Hood Vacation Rentals was amazingly helpful in providing insights into the local places to go and they were also very receptive to the tiny constructive criticisms I had. As a vacation rental owner myself, I felt that the views of another owner would be helpful in fine tuning this great place. Did I mention that access to the highway was shockingly easy? When we arrived, got our keys and went to the house, I thought it would be hard to get out of the woods and back on Hwy 26. It was easy to make a left and get down the street to Mt Hood Village and the local store every time we went. And the store was so close that we never hesitated to put a list together and get whatever we felt like... I love to cook and the kitchen was great. Same with the barbecue. We even entertained one evening and had friends from Sandy over for dinner. I just wish the fire ban hadn't been in effect. The double fire ring down by the river is just begging for a blaze and some s'mores. Maybe next time.

The house was very nice. A large kitchen with a nice deck and walk to the river. However, the upstairs bathroom shower had quite a bit of mold in the grout between the tile, especially on the ceiling part. The floor in that bathroom looked new, but apparently they did not redo the shower. Everything else in the house was very nice, and easy access to Skibowl and Mt. Hood and hiking trails.

Girl's weekend 1-12

The drive into the neighborhood was pretty scarey, so not conducive for walks outside. The house itself was great with the exception of a cupboard door that kept falling off the hinges and hitting feet. The rooms were very clean, the kitchen is fabuous for a large group, and we enjoyed sitting in the living room with a fire and watching the river. Overall very enjoyable experience. And all the staff were wonderful. Thanks!

Great location. Home was semi-secluded - house next door was unoccupied. Short path to the river with sandy / rocky shore. The sand next to the picnic table/fire pit was great spot for the kids (2-3yrs)! Trail along the river brings you to other spots to wade. Dogs enjoyed as well! House was older but in good condition and clean. Kitchen was stocked. Thanks!

The views out the back windows were terrific, the hot tub was crystal clear and the kitchen was the best stocked one we have ever rented. Great place for our family gathering

The property is in a great location surrounded by trees with the river-front fire pit, huge deck and spacious kitchen. It was perfect for our family group of 10 to gather to share meals, play games and sit by the campfire. We enjoyed the close proximity to Mt Hood trails and activities. I have mixed reviews about the condition and cleanliness of the property. The bed linens, towels and blankets were plentiful and wonderfully clean and in general the place was clean enough, but it looks like some general maintenance and upkeep is needed. We brought specific concerns to the attention of the property management and feel that they took our concerns seriously. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

Riverdance Retreat has a very well equipped kitchen, plenty of games for rainy afternoons, and a fabulous firepit on the shore of the river for making s'mores. My only suggestion would be to put curtains in the master bedroom, especially in the summer.

The house is spacious and modern and the staff gave outstanding service. The kitchen is organized and seating works well for out large family. We loved the hot tub. The deck, however, is EXTREMELY slippery! Despite warnings in your literature and using great care, our son-in-law had a very nasty fall which resulted in scrapes and bruises. Also, the lighting in the loft is minimal. You could use more lamps &/or overhead lighting there. Thank you.

Fun at the River Dance

This is the second year in a row that we have rented the River Dance. The first with friends and this year with my parents and our young children. This cabin is ideal for both families and adult groups. The location is wonderful, just 20 minutes from the slopes and bike trails. It is a great layout and we really enjoy the jacuzzi, well stocked kitchen and the river right behind us. The condo has alot of windows facing the back with a peaceful view of the river and trees. Even though this is a dog friendly cabin, it is very clean. Unfortunately someone did some damage to the kitchen table and there were some cracked/chipped glasses in the cupboard, but I'm sure the rental folks will take care of it, they are very good! We are planning on visiting this cabin at least once a year.

I don't know if all properties up there have the same problem but the toilets were stained very dark and for the first day, when ever you flushed, there was a strong sulfer smell and it permiated the whole place for a few hours. Otherwize, great.

This place was spacious, lovely, and in an amazing setting. Great bedrooms, well-stocked kitchen, wonderful lay-out, huge hot tub. The only (incredibly minor) gripe we had from the entire weekend was that the trash bags in the kitchen were way too small for the can and very weak, which made throwing things away and taking out the garbage a pain.

Great vacation home, a few quirks

Location itself is fine, but you must pass through some interesting homes to get there. Also, there is a wonderfully huge home being built next door, but very limited work was being done while we were there. Lastly, the amenities were great, and in general everything was well taken care of. Caution! The outside perimeter of the building can be slick and we had several falls during our visit.
