Mt Hood Vacation Rentals has been receiving lots of phone calls and emails from our rental guests asking questions about our operations, our cleaning protocols and mountain recreation. We will take your calls and emails and we will respond personally to each and everyone of you, however, we may be delayed in getting back with you, so hopefully we can answer some of your questions here.
Many people are asking how we are doing. We appreciate hearing that you care about us. We are all well and doing everything we can do to insure you can still take a vacation this year.
Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions
Are you open?
We would love for you to come visit, but just not right now. In accordance with Governor Kate Brown’s Executive Order on March 23rd, Mt Hood Vacation Rentals will be closed through April 30th. Please learn more about our temporary closure. We know that when the current daily stress has subsided, people will need a respite and we hope to provide that relaxing cabin in the forest for rejuvenation and rejoining with friends and family.
Are the ski areas open?
Are there other activities or recreation that are closed?
With the Executive Order directing individuals to stay home and its closing of most recreational areas, we recommend that you settle in at your home with family even though you may feel you need to venture out. The trails and lakes and play areas will be here for you when it makes sense to head back out into the woods.
What are your cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting protocols?
Sanitizing & Disinfecting
We have always followed a strict policy of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting for our vacation homes. We are ramping up our procedures and taking extra care in each home.to insure all surfaces are disinfected including countertops, frequently touched items like door knobs, switchplates, remotes and phones, and all linens in the homes. During the next few weeks, we will be deep-cleaning all homes to further insure they are sanitized and disinfected. We use a hydrogen peroxide sanitizer / virucide product in accordance with manufacturer's directions and SDS labeling.
Cleaning of Linens and Towels
Our sheets and towels are laundered in our commercial laundry facility using a hydrogen peroxide sanitizer, detergent and bleach. We have also blocked the days before and after each reservation to insure we have adequate time to thoroughly clean, sanitize and disinfect each home.
Using Hot Tubs at Your Mt Hood Rentals
Additionally, you can feel safe using the hot tub at your vacation rental. According to the CDC, "There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19." We use chlorine to sanitize all of our hot tubs.
Checking In to Your Mt Hood Rental
We are implementing "touch-free" check-ins. About 2/3 of our vacation rentals have keyless entries. For these homes we will email your check-in instructions which will include a unique door code, maps and directions for the home on the day of your arrival allowing you to drive directly to your vacation rental. You can check out with a special code and drive home, bypassing our office. For the vacation rentals with keyed entry, we will email to you lock box instructions for picking up the keys, maps and directions for the vacation rental you will be staying in. At check-out, you can drop the house key in our outside drop box at the office.
Are Mt Hood restaurants open?
All restaurants in Oregon will be closed until mid-April, however, many of our area restaurants are offering their menu items for pick-up and / or delivery. Check out our list of open eateries with contact info and links here.
What are my options if I cannot use my reservation?
We are hearing from many of our guests who have concerns regarding COVID-19 and would like to postpone their travel to a future date. We understand and we are here to work with you. Review our Vacation Continuation Policy, then call or email us to discuss travel modifications.
