Mt Hood Vacation Rentals has been receiving lots of phone calls and emails from our rental guests asking questions about our operations, our cleaning protocols and mountain recreation. We will take your calls and emails and we will respond personally to each and everyone of you, however, we may be delayed in getting back with you, so hopefully we can answer some of your questions here.
Many people are asking how we are doing. We appreciate hearing that you care about us. We are all well and doing everything we can do to insure you can still take a vacation this year.
Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions
Are you open?
Mt Hood Vacation Rentals is fully opened and accepting reservations.
Are the ski areas open?
Effective May 15th, Timberline Ski Area is open with very specific requirements including required reservations booked online up to 24 hours prior to your ski day. At this time, Mt Hood Meadows and the Mt Hood Skibowl are closed until further notice. Mt Hood Adventure Park will be opening on June 24th. All 27 holes at the Golf Course at the Mt Hood Oregon Resort is open with restrictions.
Are other activities and recreation open?
Many day-use recreation sites in the Mt Hood National Forest re-opened on May 29th with more areas opening up each week. Visit the Mt Hood National Forest Alerts & Notices page for the most current information. The BLM recreation sites parking areas are closed, however, you can walk in to Wildwood Recreation Site and Sandy Ridge Mountain Bike Trails until further notice. As areas around the state open up, we expect the federal lands to also become accessible soon. The trails and lakes and play areas will be here for you when it makes sense to head back out into the woods.
What are your cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting protocols?
Sanitizing & Disinfecting
We have always followed a strict policy of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting for our vacation homes. We are ramping up our procedures and taking extra care in each home.to insure all surfaces are disinfected including countertops, frequently touched items like door knobs, switchplates, remotes and phones, and all linens in the homes. We are following CDC-recommended guidelines for disinfecting our vacation rentals, using an EPA-registered sanitizer / virucide product in accordance with manufacturer's directions and SDS labeling. Our professional inspectors will follow our housekeepers to ensure that every vacation rental is clean and ready for your family and your friends to enjoy safely.
Cleaning of Linens and Towels
Our sheets and towels are laundered in our commercial laundry facility using a hydrogen peroxide sanitizer, detergent and bleach. We follow specialized processes and procedures to contain soiled linens on their way out of your vacation rental and to protect clean linens on their way into your vacation rental to ensure there is zero cross contamination. Our housekeeping team will be wearing masks and using surgical-grade disposable gloves.
Using Hot Tubs at Your Mt Hood Rentals
Additionally, you can feel safe using the hot tub at your vacation rental. According to the CDC, "There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19." We use chlorine to sanitize all of our hot tubs.
Checking In to Your Mt Hood Rental
We are implementing "no-contact" check-ins. About 3/4 of our vacation rentals have keyless entries (and we expect to upgrade to keyless entry for all homes by mid-summer). For these homes we will email your check-in instructions which will include a unique door code, maps and directions for the home on the day of your arrival allowing you to drive directly to your vacation rental. You can check out with a special code and drive home, bypassing our office. For the vacation rentals with keyed entry, we will email to you lock box instructions for picking up the keys, maps and directions for the vacation rental you will be staying in. At check-out, you can drop the house key in our outside drop box at the office.
Are Mt Hood restaurants open?
Most Mt Hood area restaurants are re-opening in June with limited services in accordance with the state of Oregon's Phase 1 guidelines. Many eateries are also offering take-out and delivery of their menu items. Visit our dining guide for a complete list of local restaurants, bars and cafes. We recommend contacting the establishments for information about their operations.
What are my options if I cannot use my reservation?
At this time we are following our regular payment and cancellation policies for new reservations. When you book, 50% of the total is due and is non-refundable unless you have travel insurance and your cancellation reason is covered by travel insurance. The balance is due 45 day prior to your arrival. You can read our complete rental policies on our website. You are welcome to offer your reservation dates to a friend or family member. We just ask that you give us the new guests' names and contact info.

If you are uncertain if you will be able to visit, we recommend that you wait until you are closer to your travel dates to book your reservation.
