Cozy Bear Cabin will remind you of a tree house surrounded by tall trees. This cabin is the perfect blend of Mt Hood coziness with modern updates throughout. The vaulted great room with spacious kitchen, woodstove and 6-seat dining table is ideal for gathering together for meals, playing games or watching TV. Plenty of windows and skylights bring in lots of natural sunlight. This 3-bedroom cabin is perfect for a family vacation or 3 couples.
The vaulted great room downstairs is perfectly comfortable for everyone to gather around the TV or the woodstove. The cook will not be left out of the fun with the open kitchen layout and dining area. Two bedrooms downstairs each have a queen bed and share a full bathroom with tub and shower. The upstairs primary suite includes a queen bed, sitting area and en suite bathroom with shower.
Step out to the covered porch for a BBQ then dine at the picnic table. You will want to soak in the private hot tub with forest views or roast marshmallows and tell tall tales around the fire pit after a day of fun playing at Mt Hood. For hikers, the Salmon River Trails are just 1 mile from the cabin and you will be minutes to all other Mt Hood recreation. Your dog is welcome to join you at the Cozy Bear Cabin for an additional charge.

Lovely cabin in the woodlands around Mt Hood

My partner & I booked to stay a few days around Mt Hood for some day hiking at the tail end of our trip. The cabin was well located - easy enough to drive to several of the trails but also an easy drive back to Portland for us to catch our flight. The cabin was really lovely aside from a few small things - 1) There were starter amounts of most basic supplies (like dish soap) with the exception of paper towels. There was maybe a handful of napkins but no paper towels in the kitchen. 2) The coffee pot reservoir was pretty grim & saw at least one dead mosquito inside. We picked up some vinegar and ran it through the water reservoir a few passes to sort that out. 3) The TV service in the living room wasn't working and we couldn't work out why. There was an Amazon Fire stick plugged in but it didn't have a power cable so couldn't get that running either.
All minor things and we still had a wonderful stay aside from that. The cabin truly is stocked for nearly any kind of cooking you'd want to do. They have a full cabinet of games. The area around the cabin is wonderfully tranquil with all the trees. We saw a small family of deer wandering around a few times which was a treat.

Loved the cabin. Was a little disappointed when the lights in the hot tub didn’t work and the mattresses were a bit stiff for me. But all in all would for sure go again.

Our stay was great! Super cute, cozy home not too far from Mt. Hood. House is very clean minus some out of reach cobwebs in the sky lights. Sky lights were a plus to add more daytime sunlight!
Meredith provided a small amount of fire wood for the wood stove. Bring an ax for kindling. Hard to start without that or a fire starter. Dollar General just down the road from house, is a great little market but they don’t have fire starter sticks.
Took us 45min (weather, traffic), leaving at 7:00am to get to Mt Hood Meadows.
House has all the amenities, except cooking spices. There is only salt and pepper (now there is garlic salt and vegetable oil).
During our stay, the hot tub was under repair ??. That was a pretty big bummer as that was one of the main reasons for choosing the house, along with location and size. Oh well. Maybe next time! House slept 8 comfortably with the pull out couch.
Didn’t have to deal with customer service at all.

Nice cabin. Pros: we definitely enjoyed the outdoor space, eating dinner outside on the table and just relaxing amongst the trees. The hot tub was also lovely. Overall cabin felt spacious. Cons: Maybe more attention to overall cleanliness. It is dog friendly, so perhaps that’s the issue. The kitchen is well stocked, and the management company was responsive.

We stayed at Cozy Bear Cabin for a weekend and had a great time. It is very clean and well cared for. The hot tub was relaxing and there was a wonderful wood burning stove that we used. The location was perfect for winter. There wasn’t much snow on the drive over, but plenty surrounding the cabin. It was easy to get to and felt safe. I hope we can stay here again in the future.

Overall nice space in good location. Close to Zigzag dining. Could use a little TLC but nothing a deal breaker. Hot tub temp can't be adjusted (we knew ahead of time) but it's set to HOT 102-104. Yikes. Beds are ok, new towels & maybe a new shower head would go a long way. Place is nicely stocked. Ceiling fan in living room teases you because there's no way to turn it on! Lol again nice overall just some gentle constructive criticism.

Amazing beautiful home secluded in the foot hills of Mt Hood

The Cozy Bear Cabin is the perfect place for a couple on an intimate getaway with the outdoor hot tub. It is also wonderful for a family ready to enjoy beautiful trails and time in front of the indoor wood-burning stove with games, or outside sitting near the fire pit roasting hot dogs and marshmallows.
The home has everything you need to prepare home cooked meals. (We even had waffles one morning!)
For outdoor activities, the start of the Salmon River Trail head is only 3 min. away from the cabin. It is one of the most picturesque hikes suitable for little ones too.
The Zig Zag Inn, 5 min. away, is nostalgic and offers great Italian food and especially pizza. The Dragonfly Cafe, 10 min. away, offers amazing prime rib dinners on Fri. and Sat. nights.
We will definitely be back.

Coziest cabin!

When the weather changed and gave Oregon an epic storm, this was a very nice place to be. We thought the week would be cold and dry, lots of skiing, snowshoeing and hot tubing. That did turn out to be the case, but much closer to the cabin, right outside the door in fact. We ordered more wood before the storm, so we were nice and toasty warm. Luckily our power stayed on all week. This is a lovely warm cabin with a great location, far enough from town to seem remote, but close enough if one needed something. The cabin was clean, pretty well appointed, attractively decorated, and darn comfortable.

This cabin is a wonderful getaway in the middle of a gorgeous area full of hiking opportunities. Lots of room, nice kitchen, very comfy master bed and nice living room area complete with TV and movie channels such as Netflix. Security motion lights make you feel safe with a nice fire pit and plenty of wood. There is no AC, but we kept the windows open and it cooled us very well. The hot tub works well, but difficult to use at night as there are no lights in the vicinity of the hot tub. We would definitely come back again.

Cozy Bear Cabin was absolutely perfect for our stay. We had 2 families with young children, and the house fit us wonderfully. The master bedroom easily fit our pack-n-play with plenty of room to walk and still enjoy the sitting area. The spa was amazing to relax in at the end of the night after a good hike. We cooked many meals in the kitchen and it was very well stocked with every utensil needed. I highly recommend this house!

Cozy Bear was comfortable for a relaxing weekend getaway. Though it is near a road, it is not a busy one and we felt secluded in the woods. There were a few items missing (lighter for the wood stove and kitchen towels). The staff promised them the next day but did not deliver. The living area is very dark - if you like to read (or anything else non-electronic) bring a lamp or two.

Only slight bugaboo was the grill would not go past 350 degrees the second time we used it, checked both canisters and they appeared to be full, otherwise all good.

Awesome Girls Weekend

My girl friends and I like to hear to Mt Hood every few months for a weekend getaway. We’ve stayed in LOTS of cabins over the years and Cozy Bear is our fave! The kitchen is the best stocked I’ve seen for a rental, the open floor plan is awesome for one of us to be doing a puzzle at the dining table, one to be cooking it up in the kitchen and the rest to be watching movies - but we can still talk and enjoy our together time. Cozy Bear is clean, quiet, private but easy to get to and a quick run to the store for provisions. Three of our group work in property management (so we’re picky about rentals) and the team at Mt Hood Rentals is professional, friendly, helpful and responsive! Definitely will be coming back for years of girl’s trips!

Cozy Bear Cabin locates right off the road but was very quiet and private. Inside is extremely clean and inviting. Outside BBQ appeared brand new. The only disappointing thing was the lack of space around the fire pit. House set for 6 people and only chairs for 2. Appreciate the amount of wood given to tenents. Cozy Bear Cabin--wonderful weekend getaway!

My husband and I and our entire family, including two grandchildren, got away for a wonderful weekend in the woods at the Cozy Bear Cabin. It really was a perfect place for our family, as it had just enough woods for a 4- and 6-year-old to explore, just outside the door, and the interior was spacious enough for the family and two big dogs. We had a great time, as we could all be together in the same room whenever we wanted, but we could also spread out, as there was a wonderful space filled with toys and games upstairs for the kids. Great location--close to the Zig Zag ranger station and plenty of nearby forest trails. We used the hot tub, too, which was located not far from the immense front porch. Such a relaxing and fun getaway! Thank you! Two things to fix: We could find no directions to the DVD player in the main room and were unable to watch movies. While the staff at Mt. Hood Vacation offered to come over, we declined. It really wasn't that important, but it's something you may want to fix soon. Also, we found four dirty, used coffee mugs with coffee drips down the outsides and inside, as well as one very greasy plate in the cupboard with the clean dishes. Somehow, the cleaning crew missed that. Perhaps they need to check dishes that have been "washed" and put away by the previous guests. That was gross, but it didn't ruin our vacation.

The cabin is great, plenty of room and clean. There was a mouse running around in the cabin but it didn't seem to get into our food. Also the ceiling fan in the living room hasn't been cleaned in a while. But it's very high up so I expect it to be difficult to clean.

I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience (3/3/16 - 3/6/16) at the cozy bear. So much space. Nice rooms; WIFi that allowed us to stream music ; Cell phone reception was good, and there was also a landline to receive calls (just in case); the hot tub was great.

Beautiful home but not as secluded as it leads you to believe

We stayed here for four nights in October. The house was wonderful! The only downside was it wasn't even close to what I would consider secluded! You can constantly see cars driving through the trees on two sides of the house. It's still has quite a bit of privacy it's just not what I would secluded.

When we define secluded, we are referring to the proximity of other homes and cabins, so next time be sure to let us know that you also want to be further away from the road. We do have cabins with long driveways that will accomplish that for you.

Quaint and Peaceful

We absolutely loved the Cozy Bear Cabin. Our family was flying into the Portland airport later in the evening so we decided to stay in Welches for a couple of nights before driving home to Bend. So glad we did since the flight was delayed 2 1⁄2 hours, putting us at the cabin close to 12am. We couldn’t have asked for a better cabin. There were four of us and our dog. It was the perfect amount of room for all of us and we were very happy to have the additional bathroom upstairs. The house felt very private from the road and neighbors. Since it was in the 90’s while we were there, we left the windows open at night and were able to hear the sound of the rushing water from the river close by. One evening we were able to sit out on the porch and BBQ, making it stress free and relaxing after doing the Fruit Loop around the Hood River area earlier that day. Each morning we enjoyed walks along the river, only 1⁄4 mile down from the cabin. We all have fond memories of our stay and look forward to going back in the winter to enjoy some skiing!

Relaxing stay at Cozy Bear

It was a very nice cabin. We came in late and finding it the dark wasn't easy. Would be nice if you put some kind of light on the address. Hot tub was extremely clean and very nice. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. I would give this cabin 3 out 5. The rental staff was great. Very helpful and friendly. Would give the staff 5 out 5
