My only suggestions would be to put the number of the house closer to the road for ease of viewing, and also include a description of the house (color, etc) with the directions. We arrived very late at night and since the road sign for Alpen Way was broken, we drove around the neighborhood for about 40 minutes trying to find the house!!!
Thank you for the great suggestion. We will add a photo of the cabin to the directions and install address numbers at the end of the driveway.
We visited the Alpenglow cabin over a sunny Memorial Day weekend. We really enjoyed the place. Nothing but good things to say about it. I would recommend it to anyone. Beautiful sunny deck was a hit for BBQing. The place was clean and well stocked. We will probably return in the future.
The cabin was very nice. lots of room. private hot tub and billiards room made it perfect for us. We stayed in mid-may, and even though there was a 12 foot wall of snow everywhere it was about 75 degrees. we did some hiking where we could get in and saw some beautifull sunny snow covered views. had a great, relaxing stay.
This place was great, a great weekend full of good times. The location was awesome and there was a good amount of snow for playing around. This cabin was well worth the money and we cant wait to rent it again.
The property manager was so helpful when the water heater broke on our last morning there. Even though there was a mishap with the water heater, I have recommended this property to my friends, and plan on going there again!
i have rented other properties in portland and would not use the rental agency again. the fact that you are asking for feedback is an indication that you care about the property and experience. everyone was overwealmingly nice. i think i would rent something more secluded next time. but liked this place. jusy mt preference thank you!
By far, one of the easiest vacations I have had. Cascade property made the reservation so simple and quick. We will definetely use there service again. Thank you.
We loved our stay, but there were a few minor things that needed fixing eg quite a few lightbulbs had blown or the lights did not work; the upstairs shower wouldn't work and the bath plug didn't hold water properly; the electrical socket cover on the stairs was broken; the satelite remote did not work and there was NO wireless access.
Hi- Thank you for letting us know about the items that need attention. We are getting these remedied right away. Betsy
this was a great stay except that the table leg broke!
There is a new much more sturdy oak dining table (including a leaf) and chairs.
We loved our entire trip. Thank you for helping us to find the perfect home to stay in. We had a wonderful magical time and can't wait to retun again and again. Marin and Jeff
A beautiful setting, beautifully laid out, quiet, very comfortable with a great kitchen and handy deck (aka winter beer cooler!) With 3 stories, a pool table and jacuzzi it just doesn't get much better. After our first stay Alpenglow truly seemed like a home away from home, so we came back and will again!
The only thing was it would have been nice to have a 2nd t.v. But other than that it was a great house to stay in.
The cabin was lovely. It was great for a family group where privacy was not an overriding issue. One upstairs bed was in the open landing, and the lowest level (spa, pool table, laundry, and bedroom) had no bathroom. But the property was beautifully maintained and extremely spacious. It was located a short distance from some wooded hiking trails and just down the road from the turnoff to Timberline Lodge.
Needed to call the property management's cell phone because we were having problems with the key box, and they didn't answer for a couple of hours. This caused us to be delayed in getting into the house and find a place to eat until they would answer their cell phone. I'm not sure what good an "emergency" cell number is if nobody answers it.
Cell phone reception can be spotty around the mountain due to the tall trees and mountains blocking the signal. We have switched to AT&T which gets better reception as well. (Verizon & AT&T are the best here.) We are getting more of our afterhours calls now.
This was our 3rd time at Alpenglow and it's a great place. The location is perfect and the hot tub and pool table seal the deal. Sadly, our yearly group has outgrown this place and we'll have to find a larger place next year. The only drawback for families with kids is that the loft bedroom is open and so it's impossible to put kids down to bed while adults are still socializing below. Otherwise, it's nearly perfect and we'll miss it!
Our group of 7 adults was comfortable in the Alpenglow Cabin for 3 days. We enjoyed the hot tub, the pool table, the wood stove as well as the kitchen amenities. Note to folks who might sleep in the lower level bedroom: the floors above are very loud and squeaky! Overall, a fun stay and we'd recommend this property to others.
The cabin is an excellent prize-quality-location value! I don't think its a good idea for over 5, since 1 of the bedrooms is in the base ment and gets too hot and is kinda noisy. The kitchen is in good shape, the spa is great as well. Honestly, I only hoped for newer, fimer beds. They were really missed after days of demanding ski days! Still, I do recommend it!
The location was Ideal. We drove to Timberline, but Skied down the Glade Trail to the road and walked a shorter distance to the front door than we would have if we walked to our car at Timberline Parking Lot. We all slept well. We made use of the Hot Tub which was great for sore muscles after a day of skiing. Our only complaints were the Hot Water Heater, which had to be placed on hotest setting to have comfortable showers and the Kitchen Knives. The latter were dangerously dull. I do not know if the water heater needs to be serviced or replaced. I just wanted you to know. We would stay there again.
The good news is that the water heater has been replaced with an 80 gallon water heater, so there should be plenty of hot water for everyone. We will get those knives sharpened or replaced.
Alpenglow was awesome! I guess our only suggestion would to be have at least one more TV for those days when there is no snow and is raining. Kitchen was well stocked with every pot and pan that will ever be needed, a big plus for me.Thanks for letting us stay!
We had a wonderful time, thank you. Our only complaint was (is) the comforter and blanket on the bed both were dirty with peculiar brown, unpleasant smells and stains. Sheets were clean. We had to dig for other blankets. Might want to wash those between each stay along with the sheets.
All of the bedding has been laundered or replaced. Thanks for the head's up.
I am a very happy repeat customer and truly enjoy renting from your company and working with your staff. They are all very helpful and efficient. The two houses I have rented (Wildwood & Alpenglow) were wonderful and I will return! My only criticism with the Alpenflow rental is that same as my other stay at Wildwood... the house could have been cleaner. The floor in the main level bath didn't look like it had been vacuumed/swept. There was also areas of dust built up... other than this the stay was great! Thanks again!~ Eileen
This was a great cabin overall to stay in. Great location and nice big comfortable sitting area for everyone to relax in. It is a short walk from the snow play area and in to town. Because of the loft set up it can be a bit noisy for those sleeping when you have a big group, but overall it was great.
nice area, hot tub did not work but the staff was nice and we had a great time playing in the snow and warming by the fire.
The sink leak has been repaired. All of our homes are non-smoking, so it is disappointing to find cigarette butts and smell.
Great place in a good location. The hot tub and pool table are definite pluses. This place is not exactly off-the-beaten-path, but sometimes it's good to be close to stores and such. Close to trails too.
The house is pretty worn out. The lowest level is dark, cold and a little scary, with no bathroom. The main floor and upper floor are fine, but the dishes were all dirty and the bathroom on the main level didn't work, so we had to traipse upstairs. Doesn't sound like a big deal, except we ran a marathon...Overall, it's fine, but for the price, I expected a lot more.
Everything was very satisfactory and the staff was very helpful. The kitchen amenities were very dissatisfactory. The mixer was missing a piece, the pans were bent and everything burnt even using nonstick materials, and a cabinet door was torn.
sorry to say but other then it being in a great place , our stay was not what we expected.there wasn't enought wood in the house to last 2 days and we were there for 7 had to call and get more. the house was a bit run down. broken lamp in living room. no sadilite as promised . DVD was broken and didn't work right. rug in mudd room wasn't cleaned in awhile. broken door in kitchen , kitchen light over counter didn't work at all. shower light in upper bathroom didn't work. drawer in upper bathroom was broken of the rack.. Other then all of these minor problems we did have a good time. I would go back to the area just not in the same house..
Hi l-All of these issues have been addressed. The satellite wasn't working due to an issue with the satellite TV company, so unfortunately that was out of our control. We think it was weather related. We start you out with a complimentary supply of firewood, enough to for one 3-hour fire each evening. You may purchase more firewood if you would like. Also, if you are visiting for more than a few days, we will pay you visit mid-stay to replenish the firewood and check on the hot tub.
Upon arrival there was 5 foot of snow completely blocking the drive way. We had to knock on the neighbours doors to borrow shovels & it took nearly 1 hour to dig our way into the property & park the car. Obviously we were very pissed as we were wet & very cold.We were told that the drive had been cleared that morning but we found this very hard to believe as 5 ft of snow could not have fallen in 6 hours. The uncleared snow also prevented us from finding the house & it took over 30 minutes of driving up & down the road to finally figure out this was our rental. Not the best way to start a Christmas vacation.
Wow-We sure did have a heck of a snowstorm all at once, record-breaking as a matter of fact. The news channels dubbed it "Arctic Blast 2008" We were informed by the contracted snow plow company that the driveway would be plowed before your arrival. Unfortunately, they must have been so busy plowing all the roads in Gov't Camp that they were late getting to your home. We regret that and wish we had more control over the work they do and when they do it. Hopefully, the rest of the winter will bring us normal and more easily manageable snow fall.
the couches in the main room were not comfortable and we spent no time there - which was unfortunate - they look a lot more comfortable than they truly are. the sheets used on the pull out were dirty - even though they were clearly laundered and had a the green sticker on them. The pull out was broken (though apparently fixable) but the point is when my friend went to lay down the top of the mattress sank down and she got stuck (she was unharmed and we laughed really hard about it - but it is still not a plus for the property). And my final comment is that the heat was really varried - it was hard to keep the house at a nice even temp - it went from cold to hot throughout the weekend. I would definately stay at another property with you - i thought your desk person carrie was especially friendly and nice - but this property had too many draw backs for us.
Hi there,First I want to say we did like the home and the location, but there were some major defaults that we felt were not taken care of properly. We basically did not have heat. The first night we got there the heat did not work. The repair man came the next day and fixed it. All this in the middle of a snow storm when the temperature outside was in the teens. The repair man told us there would be a bit of an odor. We were not told that the odor would be so bad. We finally turned it off in the middle of the night when the odor woke us all up with burning eyes and nose. We tried the next day to turn the heat on and could only stand it for around 2 hours. We could have used the wood stove but there was hardly any wood on the property. We also had trouble with the television and finally got that to work the last day after having to scrape off the satelight, and then the remote didn't work. I would have thought that after all of that someone would have refunded me atleast part of the almost $900 we spent for the three nights, but no one mentioned doing anything for our inconvenience. I am disappointed in the way this was handled. I would have loved to come back with my family, who all ski.I hope you get these issues resolved for the next guest, because the property is nice and the location is good.
The furnace was replaced last week with a brand new, energy efficient and super quiet furnace, so the home will stay toasty warm. We apologize that you had so many issues with trying to get the furnace to work.
