The location was great. Frying pans stick. Bring your own. Hot tub cycled all night long. Other than that, the Chalet is a perfect location for relaxing and exploring nature.
We love the setting at the Deer Island Chalet, too. The pots and pans at the home are stainless steel, not non-stick, so you need to use cooking oil, or cooking pan spray. We checked them all and they seem to be ok. The hot tub was repaired last week, so it is now quiet.
I came home for my 2 weeks of R&R from Iraq and spent an amzing week with my fiance in the deer island chelet. It was a great way to come home and be able to spend time with her, to be able to just get away and relax. We slept in every morning, made good food in kitchen, and on the BBQ, and if we didnt feel like cooking there were several nice resturaunts that were only 15-20 mins away. Then at night it was time to relax in the hot tub, which was great!! Then a nice fire and some drinks. We will be coming back next year for sure. Snow boarding was great as well, we got some fresh powder and had a blast. Thank you all very much, you made my time at home very memerable.
And thank you for your service to our country!
Hoping to come back again soon!
We had an exceptional vacation in a very beautiful part of the country. The lodging was very well situated in a rustic environment but still close to a lot of trails, wine growers, etc.
I rated cleanliness a little lower because there were some cobwebs in high places, dog hair on the rug and the blanket on the king bed was so covered in dog hair I had to take it off.
Couldn't have asked for a better spot. Needs AC for summer mos though or at least more fans. But great spot, we will definitely come back
There are two complaints.1. Make sure to bring your own frying pan. The pans provided in the house stick. 2. There isnt enough storage. We had to leave all of our food out on the counter or in bags on the dinning room floor. Most of the closets were locked so you couldnt hang or put anything away. The dressers that are there had stuff in them. I would definetly recommend this place. We will come back in the future.
We liked the property, access to the river and trails, quiet and would stay there again. The only downside was the constant foot traffic through the yard but still found the home to be very comfortable and well appointed. Thanks again!
The owners of the homes on the island have allowed access to other neighbors in the gated community to walk past the homes and cross the river to head over to Wildwood Park. Hopefully, most just walk past and continue on.
The only comment we have is the upstairs TV fan runs even when the TV is off. It kept us up at night so we unplugged it. The cabin was very wonderful and we enjoyed ourselves the ost we ever had on a weekend get away. Thank you for the lovely time.
One thing to consider- the hot tub motor is kind of noisy and runs throughout the night. It might be good if guests had the option to turn it off during their stay (we didn't even use the tub but we did hear the motor!)
Couldn't have been better. We spent a very relaxing weekend at Deer Island. Wish we could have stayed longer. The home met our needs, was very comfortable and the convienence of the trails for easy hiking was a bonus. We sat on the deck and listened to the river while relaxing and soaking in the warm sun by day and viewing the stars by night. There was a large park like play structure that would fill many hours of play time if you had children with you.The kitchen was well equiped and our king bed very comfortable. We did not use the televisions so not sure if controls were confusing to use. We would definately like to visit again!
We had a great time here. This home (and hot tub!) was a convenient and comfortable place to come and relax after a long day of skiing. We hope to come here again in the future!
Perfect! Wonderful location, wonderful home. We hope to be back in the summer.
We had a wonderful relaxing time at the Deer Island Chalet. The location could not have been any better. The accomodations were very comfortable and "well done." The property was very clean!!! WE also appreciated all of the "labeling" letting us know how to use things and take care of things while we were there. Making the reservation, checking in, and checking out was very professional and friendly. We plan to continually check this site for rentals and have already highly recommended Cascade Property Management to friends.
Thank you! We had a wonderful time!
The place was beautiful! The chalet was perfectly cleaned and was exactly what was promised on the website. Our expectations were exceeded and the service was absolutely great. We will return.
We had a wonderful time and thank you for the great weekend. Our only recommendation for improvement is to find a way to mark the TV remotes to make TV/cable operation a little easier. We finally figured it out but it was quite a challenge. Other than that, we had a fabulous time, will recommend this property to others, and plan to be back!
We had a really lovely time at the Chalet! The house is beautiful, and in an extremely beautiful area. We really enjoyed spending time with each other and our dogs, who LOVED the river. We also saw tons of deer! It was close to Government Camp and Timberline Lodge, which was great for us.My only suggestions would be to have some more lights in the house, since it tended to get very dark once the sun set. Also, it would be nice if there was a cover over the hot tub. It rained for most of our stay, so we only got to use the hot tub one time. If there was a cover, people would be able to enjoy it rain or shine!Other than that, thank you SO much! We loved the house!
The only ding was the initial call in where I was quoted a price and wasn't told that it included travel insurance (or some sort of unnecessary insurance). When I stated that I thought it was a little high then the sales person said she would knock that off, but I believe the price was still higher than the website quoted the day before. Price should be price - I don't need a sales person upselling me on a 3-day rental.
The prices quoted on the web match the rates you are quoted over the phone. They are fed by the same rate engine, so there cannot be a variance. What makes the difference is the number of people or if you are bringing a pet. I hope this explains the rates for you.
I have stayed at many of Mt. Hood rentals properties and I must admit they have all been very nice, but Deer Island Chalet is like a little bit of heaven if you have a pet. Plenty of running room and very close to Wildwood Park, the secluded setting and easy access is great.
The play structure and the yard is great for kids. We love the trail to Wildwood Park.
We had a wonderful time at the Deer Island Chalet. It was our second year there and we had a great time. The only disappointment was the gas card offer. We feel that we should have recieved the $90 dollar gas card that we had recieved an email about. We were told that because we reserved earlier, the offer wasn't vaild. We did in fact pay the balance owed during that time period. At that time, we could have just cancelled and made a new reservation that would have qualified for the gas card offer if we had known that the offer wan't going to be honored. It doesn't seem to be a very fair policy especially since on your website it is stated, "we will always calculate the best discount for your visit". This offer should be covered under that policy.
Hi-We agree with you about the rules for the gas card promotion. Unfortunately, it was a promotion offered through the Clackamas County Tourism Development Council that we were invited to participate in. They set the rules that the reservation needed to be made between June 20-Sept 7. We did not have any flexibility in breaking the rules. We have forwarded your comments to the county group for their consideration. In the meantime, we will offer you the 10% repeat customer discount for your next visit as usual and we will also deduct $30 for a 2 night stay, $60 for a 3-night stay and $90 for a 4 or more night stay on your next visit. Betsy
I want to stay here again - very comfortable restful vacation for us, with plenty of room for our family to gather both inside and out. I love the walking paths. It was a little unclear though, if it was ok to walk the path that began at the bridge and joins the Wildwood area. That's why I rate the helpfulness question less than 5 - I don't want to be in the middle of a property dispute when I rent for a vacation.
Yes you can walk across the path to Wildwood Park. The respective property owners have written into their deeds, the right to use the roads and paths to access other property or Wildwood Park which is federal land. Betsy
Deer Island is a great place. It is so nice to be able to walk out the back door and go on a hike. Our dogs were in heaven. The kitchen was well stocked with good pots and pans which made cooking a delight. Thanks for a great place to stay on our way to the coast. We plan on coming again next year for sure.
In addition to myself and my husband, we brought 2 kids, 2 seniors, 2 dogs, and everyone had enough room! The constant sound of the running creek was wonderful.
We were very pleased with both Cascade Property Management and with our stay!
Stayed at alot of your properties, liked or loved them all, but Deer Island is has it all.
professional, there properties never disappoint.
we loved that we could bring the pooch!
We had a fantastic stay with our two dogs Max & Jake. The property was wonderfully isolated and we will be back in years to come. Thank you for making your properties dog friendly!
I have found the cabins extremely well maintained, the staff endlessly helpful and patient. I'm planing on coming back once again!
Had a wonderful, peaceful visit. Will definitely be back!!
despite repeated requests I cannot seem to get off the mail and email list.
We apologize that you had to make more than one request. I only received one request from you and your name was removed from all mailing lists immediately.
The only thing that bothered us is that people walked right through the yard and passed us while to get to the woods that lead to the salmon river and wildwood park.
There is an easement on the trail to the park, so we are unable to limit their passing. It seems to be quiet sometimes and busier at other times.
There is no waffle maker you should take that off the listing. Other then that this is a great place. We enjoyed it very much. Quite, we only had one person walk by all weekend and she was very plesant. Also you should print some instruction to the games there as most are missing. I will recommend this cabin and company to all my friends.Thank you J.C.
We have replaced the waffle iron and are looking into replace the games and or instruction. Thank you for your response and we look forward to your return visit in the near future.
If we had know it was possible that 15 people would be camping out on the land adjacent, we would have sought another property. I think you should warn other potential renters, as that particular property's allure was it's privacy and seclusion....
We agree, unfortunately, we never know when the adjacent property owners will show up. The good thing is that they only come abut once a year.
Location was quiet and remote given proximity to Welches. River nearby and a great spot for relaxing and enjoying the delights of nature in a very comfortable setting.
I would only recommend this property to someone that does not mind people walking through the yard on a regular basis. Also on the last night of our stay the people that own the property adjacent had an outdoor party. If you like people this is the place for you. If you are looking for a private getaway you may want to try a different property.
Unfortunately, this home does have an access to the property across the river and to Wildwood Park. For many of our guests, that is a plus because it is only a 10-minute walk to the 600 acre park. Please remind us the next time you make a reservation that you are looking for more privacy. We do have homes that can provide that for you.
