This was a great location and cabin. We had a great time and it was very convenient to skiing and fishing. The staff was great in recommending we purchase groceries in Sandy before we came into town. Thanks and we will be back next year.
We loved this cabin and had a great time. A comfortable set up made enjoying our company effortless. Relaxing in the jacuzzi and enjoying the outside rain made for a refreshing escape.
The first night, HWY-26 was closed by trees that had blown down in the strong winds that also knocked out the electricity. But there was firewood, flashlights, and I brought a candle. I would have been fine if the electricity never came back on. I really did not do anything. Just relaxed. It was perfect. And the dogs had a blast and are still tired from the trip.
What a charming, cozy warm cabin, we will be back as its now our favorite spot close to Portland for a getaway, the staff was very accomodating and helpful!
We will definately be back- this time for a week!! Thanks so much. It was great.
some years ago we stumbled onto these rental cabins...and now we are hooked and will return every year if we can. and more than once if we can. we are especially fond of the pine river cabin for its location and general awesomeness. And, we love all the staff as they are funny and kind and helpful - plus they are on top of every question regarding Mt Hood and the environs. hooray!
Hi, We enjoyed our stay very much!! The fireplace needs a new grate in it and it would be nice to have either some spray or a fan in the bathroom since the window doesn't open anymore. The bedroom window didn't open either. Overall... it's a great place and the view is very nice. The hot tub was a little too hot....but we still enjoyed it. Thanks for a wonderful weekend.
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Pine River Cabin. We are in the process of doing fall inventories at our homes, so we will be sure to add the fireplace grate to the list. We have been trying to get the windows fixed by the manufacturer for some time, but it has been a bit of a struggle. We apologize that you could not open those windows. Our hot tubs are set at 102-104. By law, they are required to have a limit switch that will not allow the temps to get any higher. So if the hot tub is too hot the next time, just take the lid off about 15 minutes or so before you use it and the water will cool down a bit for you.
My wife and I loved the Pine River Cabin. Nearly everything was perfect. We loved the hot and its proximaty to the river. We pretty much just hung out there soaking in the tub and listening to the river. The kitchen was adequately stocked with items we needed and all of the appliances worked fine. The only complaint that we had was that the couches were REALLY uncomfortable. We actually sat on the floor while we were watching movies. Maybe just a new couch pad would do the trick, but they were almost unsitable....if thats a word. Anyway, thank you very much for a great stay and we will definatly be using this cabin again. Thanks
Good to know you had a good time at Pine River Cabin. We will be looking into improvements for the sofas.
We are happy to hear that the value of the Pine River Cabin exceeded your expectations. And thank you for the kind words regarding our staff.
We knew it was going to be raining, but that just adds to the experience. Would of liked to use the hot tub w/o the rain falling on us, so we opted not to. Overall, we had wonderful time and will return.
We loved the cabin and can't wait to return!! We thought is was so nice that you provided a sheet and towel for the doggy! Very thoughtful!! We did wish that the windows opened... and that those which did had screens! Overall, the cabin was beautiful and very comfortable. There was some doggy doo in the yard from the previous people who stayed, and I wished that was cleaned up b/c we have a young son (but we did it and that was fine). The fireplace was great! The movies were quirkey, but added to the weekend. We LOVED being by the river and walking along the path. Fishing wasn't really that great for my husband, but that's ok. We slept well, ate well, enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplace... it was a GREAT weekend and we plan on returning there again!!! Thanks!!!
The property was beautiful, serene, and so relaxing. The hot tub was wonderful, though perhaps a little too hot for this time of year. The river was beautiful to look at, and to hear, however, it would have been nice to have better access. We loved our stay.
The cabin is normally very comfortable in the summer. You were here during the middle of a record-breaking heat wave with temps about 10-15 degrees above normal.
since our first night it was only at 96 degrees and we didn't want to call anyone that late, so we missed one night of hot tubbing. Loved all the wood furnishing...we got a laugh about the plastic buck head! Only one thing, the pillow covers on the couch looked like they needed to be washed. It was a fabulous place and we had a wonderful time, thank you!!
this was a great cabin, the hot tub could be covered but other than that it was just perfect nice and quiet, private, near shopping and mountain great for kids and dogs we loved it. thank you.
The Pine River cabin was exactly what we were looking for! It was small, quaint and perfect. The dogs loved the location on the river almost as much as we did. It was heaven sitting in the hot tub under the starry sky and listening to the river run by. A gem on the mountain!
We highly recommend this vacation property, especially for a couple with or without younger kids. Our dogs had fun too. Cozy & romantic.
We've enjoyed another one of your properties that was more elegant, but Pine River is now our favorite. The beautiful knotty pine interior and huge fireplace was superb. It would be nice if the hot tub were a little more private, but the grounds were huge and the river georgeous. Thanks for your hospitality.
I cant think of a better place to spend our honeymoon. The cabin itself was great. We loved the loft and the fireplace. It was awesome to be so secluded, but if we needed something, it was all very close, from the grocery store to coffee to great restaurants. The river was beautiful as well.
We really liked our vacation at the Pine River Cabin. It's in a great location, and has everything you could possibly need. We particularly thought that it was very considerate from the owners to have stuff for everyone in the family (especially books and toys for kids). We were traveling with our one-year old, and couldn't take too many toys from home. She had a blast with the Legos! Thanks for a great vacation.
The cabin was everything you could wish for to get away from the pressures of life. You feel like you're away from everything, yet facilities and attractions are all very close. The staff were all very helpful, but we have to make special mention of Clay, who was polite, charming and efficient in carrying out his mid-visit checks and keeping us supplied in firewood.
Location was perfect! Loved sleeping to the sound of the sandy river, beautiful deck and back yard with a great view. We couldn't ask for a better place to relax and rejuvenate...thank you!
this was a weekend to get away with the girls. the home was perfect. we had a very wonderful and relaxing time. the hot tub was wonderful.thank youdenice adams
We loved the cabin. It was perfect for our family of 5. The hot tub was located in a great spot where you could see the Salmon River and hearing the water rushing. EXCELLENT!
We had a great weekend at our cabin and it was awesome that we could bring our dogs.
Our family stayed in the Pine River cabin for Christmas of 2007. There was an unexpected snow storm and Christmas day couldn't have been more magical! We had a fire going, our dogs laying in front of the fire contentedly and my kids opening their gifts in this sweet, cozy cabin. It was picture postcard perfect!! We will be visiting this cabin again!
My husband and I had a great time. Very relaxing and quiet and in a nice area. We will be back.
It was such a treat to stay at the Pine River Cabin! It was the retreat that we imagined it to be and helped us make a baby one month later! Ya
This was a great place to stay with the family, wish the sun had come out though :-) Loved the loft and cozy fireplace! While the furniture was cool looking, it was not comfortable. The main queen bed was terrible. My husband and I fought for the twin bed in the loft because it was the most comfortable. Other than that, a great time!
Pine River was very cozy and comfortable. It wasn't as well equipped as some of your other rentals, but certainly was serviceable. It does need a fireplace grate as someone else mentioned. The setting on the river and the trail along the river was very pretty.
Bathroom shelving unit is very unstable. Bathroom also has water stains and needs a paint job. Front porch motion sensor light does not stay on for more than a few seconds and there is no other front light, which is inconvenient when arriving after dark or walking pets after dark. Living Room couches are extremely uncomfortable. Refrigerator dripped water and ruined a pie. A pan was placed inside to catch drips.Loved the fireplace and overall loved being in the cabin.
Thank you for the comments. We will be resolving them this week.
This is very cozy and nice cabin-though the couches are extremenly uncomfortable. I loved going outside and hearing the river. The location is very beautiful.
We will take a look at the couches to see what we can do to improve comfort.
Beautiful location and quiet!
The cabin/hot tub was great, but we now know why the trees/rocks/everything else is covered in moss
The cabin was very cute and clean. I was dissapointed that the elevation was not higher- there was no snow on the ground. We should have stayed in Zig Zag just up the road. Also the hot tub was not private. There were many houses right next to eachother- the property was not very secluded.
The Pine River Cabin is a great little cabin. Particularly nice newer master bedroom. Excellent location by the river with a good back yard for enjoying the river and its sounds. The hot tub is further away from the house and closer to the river. Only complaint is that it wasn't very clean.
Need to fix or replace the as grill, it dose not work well at all. My wife and I were looking forward to grilling up some steaks, potatoes and corn on the grill, but when we tried to use the grill it would hardly heat up. We had to use the broiler and stove to cook are meal, was very unhappy about that out come. Please fix or replace the grill so the next people to rent the unit can enjoy the grill.
We will look into the condition and operation of the BBQ grill. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We did check and everything is working great now!
Nice older cabin located on secluded river front with hot tub. Good supply of household amenities and kitchen particularly well-equipped.
the bed in the master bedroom must be changed! It's very small and way too soft. My wife and I had to sleep upstairs to get some rest. Other than that, the place was great.
We will look into this.
ALL AROUND THIS WEEKEND WAS VERY RELAXING AND ITS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE BEEN TO THE TOP MT. HOOD THE VIEW IS BREATH TAKING AND ALL AROUND A BEAUTIFUL PLACE
The wood in the cabin was beautiful.
There were only a couple of minor negatives: The BBQ heating element needs to be replaced and the BBQ lid needs to be re-bolted. A new frying pan should be supplied as the teflon is starting to peel off the pan provided. THANKS!
The property and cabin were beautiful. We really apprecited the little extreas such as the laundry soap packets and the prefilled hot tub chemicals. Two suggestions though, the cabin had a heavy campfire odor that could easily be taken care of and the cabin was warm at night, screens for the windows would be fantastic. Also we lost water and power on the last morning of our stay, an emergency supply of water would come in very handy. Other than that we loved it and do plan on returning.
Cabin was cute! Furniture uncomfertable! Fireplace and cabin had a burnt wood smell ..... It needs better ventilation!
The cabin is adorable, the kitchen well equipped and the location on the river is fabulous. What was disappointing, especially considering the luxury price tag, was the extremely uncomfortable sofas and beds. The sofas looked great but required lots of "doctoring" to get comfortable to enjoy a movie. I was also disappointed that the only 2 operable windows that had screens were broken during our stay. Adding screens to the other operable windows and at least one of the doors would also improve overall comfort. I simply expect attention to details when paying over $200 a night, and some major ones were lacking in this house. Truly as the price increases so do my expectations, so perhaps this house should be priced at or below $150 until upgrades are made. Overall, great house, great location, great potential but needs a little attention.
Sandy River is not easy to access from the property but there is a trail along the edge that takes you to a nice large beach if you go left. Living room is dark--ok if you like caves.Local water system was out twice while we were there but was back up quickly.None of the bedroom windows would open. Make sure this is fixed if you're going in the summer. This property was nice but it's in a kind of shabby area.
We loved the cabin. We loved the location. We loved the fireplace and the dog friendly welcome. The only problem, however, was a big one. We couldn't sleep! The master ned slumps in the middle and so we tried to separate and sleep in two different beds, but the others were so hard we woke up in pain! Your cabin is absolutely lovely and I would love to come again but the only way my partner, particularly, would agree to come back is if the master bedroom mattress was replaced. Also, it would be nice to have another bed or couch that isn't super hard to lie down on and read a book or watch TV or what have you. Please consider this update. It would be a great improvement. Nonetheless, we thank you for your hospitality and you have a very lovely 2nd home.
the staff accused us of stealing the vaccuum cleaner from the home.
Actually we just asked you if you had seen it as it disappeared and we were trying to determine a time frame.
This is our second time staying at the Pine River cabin. This time the sofa and pillows on the sofa were stained and dirty. The cupboards in the kitchen were disorganized, pots and pans were literally just thrown in there. The overall worst thing though was that the bed in the master bedroom sinks in the middle. We had to end up sleeping in the loft, which is by far not the room a couple wants to stay in as the master bedroom is really the highlight of the house. I will not stay at Pine River Cabin again sadly.
This might be a nice rental in the winter, but having only one window to open with a screen was awful in the summer heat. We were miserable in this cabin in the 100 degree heat. Only a few of the windows without screens did open, which didn't help much either. I imagine there were tons of bugs in the place after we left, but what is a person to do. The hot tub is not secluded as the neighbors deck is in plain view. I was very disappointed with the money I spent on this rental for 2 people. If I hadn't paid so much, I would have went home after realizing we could not get any ventilation in the place. There was also no reasonable access to the river from the cabin. We walked on others properties to sit by the river one night and I don't know if that is the "right" thing to do. I really like the location of the place and I am sure you have other locations that are better, but I was disappointed in this one.
You visited during the summer when we had an unusual heat wave of over 90 degrees for 3 or 4 days. Typically, the temps do not get above 85 here in the summer and even hover closer to 80, so most homes are not equipped with AC. I think you would find the Pine River Cabin to be comfortable throughout most of the summer. We do manage rental homes that are listed as secluded, this home is listed as semi-secluded-you may see one or more homes from the home. Make sure you select a secluded cabin next time. You can walk right to the river through the back yard. And it is ok to walk through other property along the river as long as you do not hang out in someone else's yard. When you come back, you will receive a 10% discount off the rent. Betsy
