Betsy President/Owner & Property Manager Betsy moved from sunny California to Oregon in 1979 to attend Oregon State University. She worked for a year as a youth worker, then moved to Mt Hood in the fall of 1982 after being laid off to work at Mt Hood Meadows for the winter season, planning to return to her career job hunt in the spring. Betsy ended up staying at Mt Hood, eventually working year-round at Timberline for 9 years. Betsy started Mt Hood Vacation Rentals in a spare bedroom of her home in 1991. The business has since grown to be known as the premier vacation rental company at Mt Hood with the top priority of providing quality, clean and well-maintained vacation rental homes to guests. Betsy spends her free time downhill & cross-country skiing in the winter, road & mountain biking in the summer and going on vacation in the western United States. Betsy currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Vacation Rental Managers Association. She also serves on the Clackamas County Tourism Development Council.
Cari Front Desk/Reservations/Maintenance & Housekeeping Scheduler Cari grew up in the Mt Hood area, attending grade school and high school locally. She attended Eastern Oregon State University for 2 years, studying nursing. Missing the green trees and the majestic Cascade Mountain Range, Cari moved back to the area in the summer of 2003, when she came to work at Mt Hood Vacation Rentals. Cari has had previous experience with reservations and customer service at other Mt Hood area resorts. Cari's ability & willingness to learn new skills quickly coupled with her knowledge of the area and her friendly personality have made her a perfect fit for MHVR. Cari is an avid knitter and has created many beautiful blankets, hats and sweaters for friends and family. She has recently taken up gardening and we all look forward to sharing in her bounty this summer. Cari is very social and spends her free time with her friends and family.
Emily Front Desk/Reservations Emily is a native Oregonian, growing up in a small farming town in the Willamette Valley. Emily attended Oregon State University, graduating with a BS in Liberal Studies, focusing on Communications, English and Writing. She has worked at a number of Oregon wineries during the past dozen years, where she worked in wholesale and retail sales, event planning and tasting room management. Emily moved to the Mt Hood area during the summer of 2010 with her husband, Jason, who accepted a position as Executive Chef for Timberline Lodge, their 3-year old son, Oliver and their 2 dogs. Emily joined the MHVR team in February 2011. Emily has embraced the Mt Hood community, particularly with her volunteer work with the Mt Hood Pre-school. Her pleasant personality and strong organizational skills are an asset to our team. We alsoenjoy reading the blogs Emily is writing for Mt Hood Vacation Rentals.
Paul Maintenance Manager Paul is a long-time resident of the Mt Hood area. He is a licensed contractor and owner of Big Dog Fence Company. Paul is an avid outdoorsman, spending his free time mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking and playing with his dogs. Paul is responsible for maintaining the exterior grounds and hot tubs of our vacation rental homes. He also performs many of our interior maintenance projects. Paul is available for larger deck, fence, gazebo and "hot tub complex" jobs as well. Paul enjoys being creative and keeping the homes and yards looking beautiful. As Betsy's husband, Paul is the unofficial business consultant for MHVR.
Coby Maintenance Technician Coby grew up in the Mt Hood area and graduated from Sandy High School. After high school, coby worked at Timberline Lodge for several years as a housekeeper, houseman and maintenance technician. He then moved to Northern California to take a position as a maintenance technician for an art college, where his primary responsibilities were in assisting with maintaining student housing which including homes, apartments and dorms. Coby recently moved back to the Mt Hood area with his 4-year old daughter, Cadence, to be closer to his family. He joined our maintenance crew right before the December holidays in 2010. Coby enjoys spending time with his family and his 3 dogs during his free time. Coby has a very easy-going and friendly personality and gets along with everyone. We appreciate his can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills everyday.
Dani Housekeeping Dani, the twin sister of Cari who works in the office grew up in the Villages of Mt Hood, graduating from Sandy High School. Dani has worked for Mt Hood Vacation Rentals on and off for several years in a variety of capacities. After getting married, she moved to Syracuse, New York for a year, but just had to come back to Mt Hood. Dani has a darling 3-year old daughter, so she works part-time when Daddy can stay home with the toddler. Dani pays attention to detail and in particular enjoys tackling a deep clean or a really messy home. Dani spends her free time with other young moms and their kids. During the summer, the family likes to hike and camp.
Emily Housekeeping Emily grew up in Welches and attended Welches Grade and Middle School, graduating from Sandy High School. Shortly after high school, she moved to Idaho with her family, where she attended college and worked until a few months ago when she moved back to Oregon. Emily has worked at several hospitality jobs including the Rendezvous Grill and the Soup Spoon locally, as well as Blockbuster Video in Idaho. Emily's best friend is her Newfoundland dog, Deisel, (see the photo) who she enjoys taking on hikes and river swims. Emily began working with MHVR during the winter of 2011. Emily's favorite hobby which she is planning to develop into a career is photography. Besides taking pictures of nature, her friends and her dog, Emily has been taking updated photos of our rental homes for the Mt Hood Vacation Rentals website. , loca, lo,,, as, as as
