The sun-filled vaulted great room is warm and cozy for snuggling on the sofa with the wood-burning fireplace and the knotty pine interior accents. Take in sweeping Sandy River and mountain views from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the great room and from the private hot tub. This secluded view setting is perfect for your special getaway to Mt Hood.
Prepare a special dinner in the newly-remodeled, fully-equipped kitchen or grill steaks on the gas BBQ. Then take a relaxing evening soak in the private hot tub surrounded by tall trees and serenaded by the sounds of the flowing Sandy River.
The River View Cabin sleeps up to 4 guests with two bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with a queen bed and one full bathroom with walk-in shower across the hall.

This was our first stay with Mt. Hood Rentals / Meredith Lodging, and it was an outstanding experience.
Upon arrival, the initially supplied door code wasn't taking, but a brief call to their customer support resolved that, and we were in! One of the first things we noted was that everything seemed to have been done deliberately and with intention. Even seemingly mundane things, like the wood stove instructions, offered more than just "do this to make a fire", it included some of the "why you should do this", which is a rare touch that I enjoy seeing. Knowledge is power, kids. The cabin is tastefully decorated, and gives off the perfect amount of charm, in our opinion. Very cabin-y vibes. My wife is a residential designer/drafter and was geeking out about the wall-doors, the gigantic center beam, and overall layout and design of the property. The only thing we could recommend as visitors would be to throw down a rug under the couch / coffee table to reduce the reverb that comes with such an open space, but with the heated floors, I understand why it hasn't been done.
The TV and sound system in the main room worked flawlessly. I have stayed in higher-priced rentals where these two simple things do not work in conjunction. Not the case here, the system just works as intended. This might be an odd thing to focus on, but having technology "just work" when you're wanting to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie is one of those things I take for granted sometimes. Another thing we found helpful is the TVs in the bedrooms are smaller versions of the one in the main room; same functionalities, same remote, etc, so moving media from main room to bedroom was easy.
The home also apparently has heated floors! We did not realise this when booking, so it was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, as another guest mentioned, the GFCI for the main room's flooring had tripped and the reset wasn't working. Similarly, we did not try the breaker panel. The floors in our bedroom worked though and it was such a nice experience in the mornings.
The outside area seems equally as intentional. From the little BBQ hut to the small cutouts throughout the decking for some small trees and rhodies to poke through, the outdoor area gives off a more "zen" vibe than if the area had been designed on easy mode. Another sign of the homeowner's vision for a cohesive, purposeful experience. The hot tub area, although in the line-of-sight of one of the neighbors, becomes completely private once the cover is retracted. Hot tub itself is very nice, easy to use, and the seating in it isn't too deep. Was very relaxing to chill in the hot tub with the sound of the river just a few feet away.
Overall, this is the first actual get away / vacation that we have been able to take since our honeymoon in 2015 and it could not have gone better. I'll tack on a bonus star, this place is a 6 stars out of 5, easily. We will be back, hopefully this coming summer, so we can experience those doors and the river without the cold weather. A seriously great job by this homeowner, and to Meredith Lodging's management of the property. Outstanding!

This was a fantastic experience. Had some difficulty with the original door code but a few minutes on the phone with customer support and it was remediated. The only other thing to note is that when we got there the GFCI for the main heated floors had tripped, and the reset button on the control pad did not work. We did not check the breaker pane. This was not a big deal at all, as I had no idea the home even had heated floors. The on in the main bedroom was functional, and fantastic.
Despite the aforementioned hiccups, this was wonderful, much needed trip away from home for my wife and I. We will definitely be coming back to this specific cabin, and will be exploring Meredith's other rental homes for future trips.

The home is absolutely beautiful. We loved our stay, especially waking up each morning to the breathtaking view. The only downside, was the living room furniture, it has been well loved. For us as seniors it was very difficult, as you sink to the floor and you'll need help getting up.

Our stay was nice. We lived the location unfortunately the rain kinda messed up the view. The cabin was stocked well but didn't have matches to start a fire. When people travel by air some items can not be brought. Also the space had a washer but no dryer. It's not easy to wash stuff and have no place to dry. Other than that it was a great space.

Home has been beautifully remodeled. The highlight was the accordion sliding doors so the river noise filled the house. Would not advice having young children here. There is a very dangerous drop off to the river. Felt very safe for adults, but would be wary of bringing littles or dogs along.

Beautiful home with a wonderful setting. It's private, but still allows you close access to the little shopping center in Hoodland village. LOVE the sounds of the river to lose yourself in and the private hot tub is such a bonus! The personal touch of board games and books to read was amazing. Will definitely check the availability of this place during the summer weather so we can enjoy the fact that the "windows" are actually doors that can open up completely.

Couldn't get an early check in which normally wouldn't be a big deal but only staying one night, it would have been nice to get an extra hour or two. Wifi went down half way through our movie, but it was an area wide outage so not their fault. Bathroom was awesome, hot tub, fire place, beds, all amazing. Although not far off the highway, couldn't hear any traffic, especially when the back doors were open and all you could hear was the tranquil sound of the river. All in all, a fantastic place and we definitely plan on coming back! Thank you!

Our stay was amazing. The home was very clean, comfortable, and in overall excellent condition. The location on the river and the views were incredible. The TVs in the bedrooms and the wood-burning fireplace were welcome amenities. The kitchen was well-equipped, but we were surprised that there wasn't any coffee or tea or hot chocolate provided as that usually is the case when we have rented from other companies.

The cabin and the River View is absolutely amazing. The home is well stocked with every kitchen gadget needed. The only negative I would give is two washcloths for four nights stay for two people was not enough. We were not in the mood to be washing wash cloths. Also, sofa is very uncomfortable and you sink down when you sit on it. The king bed was very comfortable. The outdoor furniture was nice to sit and enjoy the River View. We would definitely rent again!

All in all, we loved it! I suppose the only downside was that all the heat comes from radiation flooring and since the rental company turns the heat down to 55 before you get there, it was pretty chilly at first and took a while to warm up. But, once it's cozy temp, it stays cozy!

We very much enjoyed the peaceful location right along the Sandy river. Great river view and out of sight from neighbors. Also loved the wood burning fireplace for our evenings for warmth while also enjoying the fresh air from the open deck doors. Had good take out dinners from the ZigZag Inn and Barlow Trail Roadhouse and enjoyed eating them in the dining area overlooking the view of the river.

Omigosh, this cabin was IMMACULATE and even more gorgeous in person than the pictures online. The view was heavenly and I fell in love with heated floors! It did take some getting used to the Bidet toilet recognizing action and turning on a bun warmer and if you are a person of any kind of considerable size, the toilet feels a little small, presumably to fit in all the bidet equipment, but that aside, the cabin is Awesome! Beds were super comfy, shower was big enough to party in, there was even a hookup to charge your electric car, if you have one...and the hot tub was relaxing, it rained sideways during our stay but with the covered hot tub it didn't bother us one bit. The only downside and its really just a small one, its not as private a cabin as it sounds to be. There ARE neighbors to either side of you, but the way the cabin is situated, you can't see them from any of the windows and the hot tub shelter is designed to block the hot tub from the neighbor's view. For those that want to cook in, there is a small grocery practically right across the highway and for those wanting to eat out there are several options nearby, however we found alot of those to be closed during our stay in late May, the bar just down the road had great Fish and chips and we drive 20miles back up the road to Sandy and tried the Tollgate Cafe and bakery one day..if you like comfort food, then this fits the bill, plus they have a yummy bakery! I'd love to stay again soon!!!

We loved staying at this unique cabin. It's equipped with some of the most modern amenities we've come across in any rental, yet still pulls off that cabin feel with it's wood paneling and furniture. It's a great location for accessing lots of great food options, and still conveniently close to the ski and snow areas of Mt. Hood. Check in and out was very simple, communication was great, everything was provided, and we loved making use of the hot tub after long snowboard days in cold conditions. We were a little nervous about not knowing the exact location of the property until the day before, and had to remind ourselves to be checking for those details to make sure we had them before hitting the road and before their offices closed, but the instructions came on time, were super clear, and we had no problems finding the property or checking in.

Overall we had a nice relaxing time which was the reason for our vacation. Was a little disappointed that it wasn't as secluded as we thought it would be and the beds were too soft and springy. We would've also liked more information that theres really no where to explore around the cabin without running into another cabin in close proximity. It was quiet and cozy inside. Hot tub was far too overly chlorinated. I would recommend it to someone not looking to get much exploring done

Beautiful and Peaceful Stay

The River View Cabin was a wonderful experience! We spent our time watching the river, getting warm in the hot tub and by the fireplace. The heated floors will make you want to remodel your own home! The cabin is private, immaculately clean, with plenty of puzzles and games and its size is perfect for two couples! This was the third cabin that my husband and I have rented from Mt Hood Vacation Rentals and the experience is unbeatable! Thank you to all of the staff for all the great service and kindness!

Our stay at the River View Cabin was truly wonderful. The cabin space is small and comfortable. Heated floors, rain shower head, comfortable beds, amazing views, and a warm fireplace for cold evenings. Our entire experience was wonderful and exactly what we needed in a very weird year. Thanks to the Mt Hood Vacation Rental team for great communication and for meeting all of our needs. We can’t wait to stay here again and we already recommended this to some friends that have booked a spring stay.

This rental is a comfy cabin with stunning views, hot tub, lovely indoor shower, a bidet, nice towels and linens. Bedspread and couch was a bit disappointing. You could hear traffic from Hwy 26, but nothing too loud. The cabin has no landline and it was difficult for me to place calls on my cell phone as they kept getting dropped. I booked this place for the higher speed internet which I didn't seem to have a problem with on my computer. On the last day I noticed that there is a camera inside the refrigerator which apparently is hooked up to internet. I believe the TV's also have cameras in them. There were TV's in each bedroom and the living area. The way this place is laid out that would cover all the areas inside the house. It was a very disturbing thought to think that someone might have the capability to "sneak a peek"inside the cabin with all of these cameras inside. If you have reservations about it then you should probably do your research. Based on this fact alone I personally would not stay here again, but it was a lovely place and I have no major complaints beyond those that have been indicated.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay immensely! Everything was perfectly clean when we arrived, there were many surprises at every corner when it comes to new appliances and electronics, and the view was breathtaking! The privacy was wonderful as well! We felt as though we were far away from everything and everyone but also had the convenience of being close to a grocery store and restaurants. The cabin was a dream. The view was perfect. We saw eagle and deer while we were there. The location was exactly what we wanted—close to town but still hidden enough from neighbors. The appliances were all high end. The only thing that was a bummer was the furniture was so uncomfortable—the couch was reminiscent of a dorm room futon and the chair wouldn’t stay unreclined. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the cabin so comfortable furniture is pretty high on our list of needs. But other than that, we loved it!

The place was generally clean. A lot of dust bunnies and cobwebs. No firewood was provided or a note why it was not being provided. I had to call to ask why, fire restriction.

Romantic Weekend Escape

The river view cabin was even more spectacular in person than in the photos. My boyfriend and I booked this as an early Valentines weekend and the cabin did not disappoint. It actually exceeded our expectations. The girls at Mt. Hood Vacation rentals were very attentive and check in was a breeze. We even got to play with the gorgeous Great Pyrenees that warmly greeted us in the rental office when we went to check in. What a treat! The cabin was clean and very well maintained. We enjoyed all the little touches like the firewood and starter logs provided. The bed was super comfortable and the hot tub was just a wonderful addition. The location is ideal and we really love how private the cabin is. OH MY GOD and that view was just breathtaking. I would highly recommend this cabin. We didn't find anything that we would change. When we return to Mt. Hood we will most definitely book with Mt. Hood Rentals. Thank you for making this a very special and memorable weekend. The snow was an added treat. We look forward to our next visit.

Nice cabin to stay at great views could have been dusted and cleaned of spider webs a little more. Neighbors close by. Chimney was plugged smoke was going inside the house fire alarm going off all the time. We just didn't have a fire. But all that being said I would say it was a great place overall once you got in the hot tub is very very private or when you're in the house on the deck not so much. We still had a great time so I would definitely give this cabin Four star

Wonderful find after much research. Highly recommend if you are looking for a very private, secluded, serene quiet retreat with beautiful views overlooking the Sandy River with the sounds of the rapids. Beautifully crafted deck, private hot tub. Well maintained and nicely appointed interior. Great wood burning fireplace. Firewood supplied neatly stacked. Small bath and tiny shower, but overall great cabin. Will be going back.

Came here for a romantic birthday weekend. Place was fantastic. View is great; the screenshot they use doesn't emphasize how nice the 'river view' really is. Picked this one over some others because of the hot tub and how secluded it looked in pictures. Was not disappointed. Already planning out when we can come back.

A perfect weekend getaway

I booked this cabin for my wife and I to have a long weekend away without the kids. The check in at the office was nice and quick and the staff was very helpful in explaining the details for our stay such as the key-less entry system and the hot tub instructions. Upon arriving at the cabin we were extremely happy with the location and the view. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed for our stay including the firewood split and stacked. The kitchen was recently remodeled fully stocked. *one side note to that would be that the coffee grinder needs replaced... does not grind! The only restaurant we tried was the Zig Zag Inn, that was very good food even though the service was a little slow it was not slow enough to keep us away a second time. Our weekend was incredible and the service we received was excellent. Thanks for making me look like a hero as I booked this as a surprise for my wife. I will absolutely recommend Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals and I will be a repeat customer.

Had a wonderful stay. Great location and short drives to the surrounding areas. About an hour from hood river. Wonderful view, in the shade of the trees which was nice on the hot days. The second bedroom doesn't have a closet if you need that due to the washer and dryer. The space is open and comfortable. The shower head and water controls need to be replace, but did the trick with a little patience. There is significant erosion and an exposed cliff right in front of the home- hence the view. If you have small kids running around, this should be a serious consideration. Overall, we had a fabulous trip hiking, biking, paddle boarding, and more.

This was a fabulous start to two weeks in Oregon. The apparently unseasonable 'Junuary' weather was not a problem with the snow topped mountain and wonderful woodlands and wetlands to explore. The house was first rate. Comfortable, private, well equipped. Overlooking the creek from armchair or hot tub - what more could you want? Getting in/out was made incredibly simple with the easy to find and friendly Mt Hood Vacation Rental HQ and the door code (instead of keys). After a 20 hour long haul from England, with two toddlers, being able to check in quickly and collapse was well appreciated! The house is close (short drive) to all amenities and lots of great excursions. We were sorry to leave.

We had a fine time at this cabin. Quite private, nice spa and comfortable. The only downside was lack of directions for the entertainment (TV, Radio) and a couple cooking pans were less than stellar. A call to the folks at the office and new pans were there the next day. All in all a wonderful stay.

Amazing place. It was super cozy and very quiet. The hot tub was great. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook. My only knock against it is that the outside garbage was overflowing when we arrived and was never emptied during the 1 week duration of the stay. We had a very relaxing weekend enjoying the fireplace, the view, the hot tub, and the cabin. We were also close enough to enjoy a dinner at Timberline Lodge one evening. The only thing negative to say is the fireplace kept smoking into the cabin (yes, the flue was open), leaving us smelling like campfire afterwards. However, what better way to remember your trip to the woods?

We had a wonderful stay. The staff was great from reservation to check out. This property was amazing. We enjoyed the fireplace, hot tub and the sound of the river. We loved that this home had all of the necessary amenities. We didn't even have to leave. We were just a little bummed that there were no outdoor path lights working so it was a little challenging hanging out in the hot tub in the evening but it worked out. We will definitely be back and have already recommended this company to our friends. We cant wait to come back!!

This was a wonderful cabin, cozy fireplace with beautiful window looking out to the mountains. We had 3 bald eagle sightings from the living room as they flew across the river just outside. Quiet semi secluded location on the river.

Everything was as described in the information on the web site. All amenities were in good working order, and supplies were adequate. Wood supply for fireplace was plentiful. The hot tub worked well but the cover needs to be replaced. It has absorbed water and is heavy. I recommended installing a lift to assist in opening and closing the cover. A little more lighting to and in the hot tub area would be nice. The office staff were friendly and helpful. It rained the whole time we were there, but stopped long enough to cookout on the gas barbeque. This was our second stay at the River View cottage and it was as nice as the first time a few years ago.
We ate out the first night at the rendezvous about a mile from the cottage. The food was good, prices right and staff friendly.
Overall, it was a nice pleasant four day getaway.

Home Away From Home

We were there two nights and had a fantastic experience. The cabin was remote enough to enjoy your privacy but close enough to your everyday essentials just in case you finished that bottle of wine earlier than expected. The place is fully stocked with all types of kitchen gadgets making it easy to cook, and the open nature of the deck and hot tub make the outside that much not inviting. We would go back in a heartbeat!

I have to admit that I was prepared to be disappointed with the location of this cabin. But as we pulled onto the property, we were greeted by the sound of rushing water, and my concerns were immediately washed away. The location was scenic, peaceful, and private, yet convenient to the grocery and other necessities. We enjoyed the casual yet comfortable furnishings and decor, and the kitchen was well equipped. The only thing we wished for was a hammock or chaise for lounging on the deck. We generally stay in deluxe or luxury properties, and while I wouldn't label this as luxury, we definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to others.

From the moment we walked in the door we felt like we were at home!! Beautiful wooded private location high above the babbling Sandy River. We enjoyed dinner on the deck watching all the birds - including a King Fisher & Pilated Woodpecker. During the day we hiked Mt Hood, Trillium Lake & drove the "Fruit Loop".

Older property but still a nice stay

The property itself is nice enough, shows some wear but fine overall. The instructions in the guest book for operating the TV, VCR/DVD, etc are outdated and no longer match the remotes provided (3 of which are required). The gal who checked us in was quite pleasant. The one who checked us out wouldn't pause her personal phone call long enough to acknowledge me, take the key, or to ask how our stay was. Not impressed with her. Thankfully, she wasn't the person we first met.

We've rented cabins in many places, and this was unique. The rental company will not tell you the address of the property, even after you've paid. I've never experienced this and can't imagine why they do it. You can't google map the property in advance, and honestly if we had we wouldn't have rented- it's in a neighborhood with smallish lots, right near the highway. But it also caused difficulty and confusion with our friend who was meeting us for the weekend at the property- we had no address to give her. Wouldn't you prefer your guests to know where they're renting and what might be nearby so they can plan for meals and shopping?
The 8 pages of printouts as well as the guest book at the property are full of rules + various fees for breaking them. It literally says if the hot tub water is not "CRYSTAL CLEAR" upon leaving you will be fined. There is a $25 fee for moving furniture, and a big sign on the stereo system saying you will be charged $100 for unhooking it. It's fine for a property to have rules and fees, and we are used to this at rentals, but it felt little extreme and created an unwelcoming atmosphere. And considering that several things about the property were not in great repair (the stove burners had to be fussed with before they would work, the oven was filthy and the heating elements dangling dangerously, the dishwasher racks were corroded and rusty, the firewood supplied was not seasoned and unburnable), it didn't seem right to take such an aggressive attitude with guests.
The house itself has nice wood floors, and a great ceiling. The chimney needs cleaned and we really couldn't use it without the house smelling, but the fireplace was pretty. The view of the river is great, and as long as you're not wanting any sort of seclusion, the location is close enough to outdoor recreation.

Thank you for your comments. We do not give out rental home addresses prior to guest arrival to ensure privacy and security for other guests and the property itself. About 75% of our guests live within a 4-hour drive and 60% live in the Portland metro area. Because of this, guests will drive up to the mountain to see the home they rented several days or even weeks prior to their reservation. (Or they will go directly to the rental home on check-in day and it is not always ready for their arrival.) When this happens, especially with the River View Cabin which rents frequently, the guests who are in the home lose their privacy. Even if there is not a car in the driveway, it does not mean the home is not occupied. Regarding the electronics, many guests fiddle with the cords in the back which is where the sign is and when they do, we have to come out to the house to reset everything. Moving furniture can damage the furniture and the floors. It costs us more than $25 to move it back because we have to get 2 or more people out to the home to move the furniture back where it belonged. We used to have quite a problem with people trashing hot tubs until we created the rules. We now have very few issues with the hot tubs. The reality is that if we have to drain, clean and sanitize the hot tub because it was not used properly, it costs $100 to do that. We dislike all of the rules as well and wish we did not have to do that, but because some people do not have common sense or do the right thing, we have to remind everyone of what they need to do - we just do not know who will or will not be respectful of the vacation home, so we spell everything out for everyone. The home recently changed ownership and the new homeowner had the chimney professionally cleaned and inspected less than 6 months ago and the firewood has been there for a couple of years, so it should not be a problem, but we will look into it. The new homeowner also plans on remodeling the kitchen.

I am not one to stay in the woods in general- I am more of a 5 star hotel sort of girl, but at the end of the week I literally cried leaving the Riverview Cabin. My husband and I have never known such peace,serenity and privacy on a vacation. It was SOOO quiet except for the beautiful flowing river below the deck. I felt safe because there were neighbors somewhat nearby and stores a short drive away, but you never saw or heard the neighbors at all! It was cozy and truly felt like a home away from home. Look forward to going back someday!

I just enjoyed my 2nd trip to the River View Cabin. It is beautiful and has nice new furniture. I love the sound of the river outside, the deck the Jacuzzi and fireplace. It is also great to be so close to everything including the grocery store and El Burro Loco.

Have had many trips to the mountain and have always loved the places we have stayed, but this place will be the only place we stay when it is our getaway for two! This cabin is ideal for a secluded little getaway weekend. Beautiful view of the river. Only one stovetop burner worked, however, which would have been nice to know for meal planning and there were a few food-crusted dishes in the pantries and dishes left in the dishwasher when we got there. Other than these issues, we loved our stay and would highly recommend this cabin!

We apologize that the cleaning was not up to par. That is certainly not our standard. When we checked the stovetop, all the burners were working. We think the knobs can be a bit tricky at times.
