You will experience a relaxing and romantic retreat with your special someone at the Riverwood Hideaway, a cozy and secluded 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin nestled among tall trees along the Sandy River. Located at the end of a long road on a private acre, you will enjoy seclusion, peace and quiet for your special getaway. Sip your morning coffee on the forest view balcony off the bedroom or enjoy the birdsong and river views from the spacious deck.
Snuggle up in the vaulted great room by the old-fashioned gas fireplace while taking in the view of the river and forest through the floor-to-ceiling picture windows. The fireplace will keep you warm as well as provide classic mountain ambiance. The small, yet fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare a delicious meal.
You will want to make the most of your evenings on the river-viewing deck with a glass of wine while cooking dinner on the gas BBQ. Finish off the evening sitting around the firepit or soaking in the private, outdoor hot tub.
This one-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin is best-suited for visitors who wish to unplug. Mountain bikers, you can ride to the Sandy Ridge Trails just 1 mile away.

Really nice and enjoyable location, especially with the fall colors. Just the right size for a romantic getaway. Never could get Hulu TV that was supposed to be available to work, but that ended up with us spending more time away from electronics. Hot tub cover lift was also broken but maintenance helped us figure out how to use the tub on the last day of the stay. Next time we'll know and can enjoy it more as the setting is great. Biggest issue is contacting someone if a problem does occur, as cell service is intermittent and spotty at best (which otherwise is a good thing as it helps disconnect). Having some way to use the strong internet to communicate would help. All that being said, enjoyed our stay and will likely be back.

We enjoyed the home directions were clear. Regional safety communication regarding fire hazards and wildlife in the area were well communicated. Had some shortcomings on property access with wrong codes to doors and locks. Otherwise the home was well lit inside and outside. The river was immediately accessible to the lot which was very convenient and scenic. Area immediate to the cabin was clear cut. We had some issues with spiders and webs in the interior but nothing a quick dusting cannot fix. The plan is very well laid out. Some furniture pieces are a bit worn out and need to be replaced. Shopping around the area is convenient and so are the restaurants and coffee stores. We loved our stay and we will definitely come back!

Still beautiful and healing. It is also evident that a number of trees have been removed adjacent to the property. My guess is that it was to mark off the neighboring lots for future builds and to add a sewer line. The secluded aesthetic of the place has changed because of these lost trees. Otherwise the cabin remains a wonderful refuge for me. Please also recognize that Wildflower Lane to the property has significant erosion near the entrance of the private drive. It requires navigation to avoid a growing pothole that soon will be difficult for standard vehicles to traverse. Finally the internet does NOT support video calls well. This is probably a good thing…just let your guests know. They can go to Coffee Roasters by the Thriftway in Welches if they need to do a call. I will return.

It would be great if the door had a screen! We found ourselves having to choose between hearing the river/getting fresh air and keeping flies out. We also couldn’t get the hot tub past 99°, one night we turned it on and it just kept going down in temp from 99 to 97, even tho the pump was on for a couple hours. Everything else was great!

Cute little cabin in the woods

My husband and I, along with our two dogs, enjoyed our post-wedding ‘mini-moon’ here for 4 days and 3 nights. It was the perfect getaway! The location is secluded and peaceful, but still close to town. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio and playing games. The gravel road to the cabin is very narrow and somewhat difficult to spot, but we were able to find it with the provided directions. We also didn’t have service through AT&T, but there is Wi-Fi. We’ll definitely be back!

Everything was so awesome & well thought out at our cabin.
If we had to find a fault it would be a few of the pans are really bad, not enough space for our food storage we brought for a five night stay, and the shower water was noticeably less hot than the rest of the cabin faucets. Those things didn’t really matter because of how gorgeous & peaceful the cabin, land, & river were.

Let me say, I have never stayed in a vacation rental that is this meticulously stocked and cared for. It was impressive. The cabin itself was smaller than I imagined based on the photos, but it didn't bother us. The view of the river was everything I hoped for. The hot tub was perfect and easy to use. The cabin is located behind the Brightwood country store so it's easy walking distance to the store and tavern. The only improvement would be to replace the bed as it sags toward the middle. Note: if you are hoping to have a fire outside, bring your own firewood or buy some at the Brightwood store.

My girlfriend and I headed up to Riverwood Hideaway for a relaxing getaway from the city for our one year anniversary. This trip is just what we needed to reset our minds from work, school, busy parent life, etc. During our stay we enjoyed the quiet peaceful surroundings, the sound of the river and the warm relaxing comforts of the hot tub. The Cabin is perfect for two. Its very cozy and warm. Our last night there I proposed. She said yes and made me the happiest man alive. This place will always hold a sweet spot in our hearts. We were totally free from the hustle and bustle of every day life and felt like we were truly able to disconnect for the world and connect with each other and with nature. We really enjoyed our stay, even though we only had a short time. Everything was fantastic except for the bed, we both had a really hard time sleeping on the bed. Great location. Very close to awesome hiking trails, two small grocery stores, Mount Hood and restaurants. Mount Hood Brewery I highly recommend for a cold glass of beer and amazing food. Plenty of amenities, even had laundry detergent so you could do one load if needed. Plenty of towels and kitchen equipment (dishes, silver wear, anything you would need). The ceiling is higher than average, making the space feel bigger, so cozy. There is a land line because cellular service is very weak but hey, unplug and relax! Spent a lot of time on the patio (sipping on a beer in evening and coffee in the morning, ahhhh) listening to the rushing river close by. Staff at rental office was very friendly. They recommended a couple of hiking trails and they didn't disappoint- Salmon River Trail and Mirror Lake. We would totally stay here again and highly recommend!

Wonderful cabin for two

My husband and I were here in May to celebrate our 6th anniversary. We stayed at the Riverwood Hideaway cabin with our two little dogs. The cabin is meant for just two people and it’s absolutely the perfect size. It’s super cozy and we ended up staying inside most of the time. I wish we had ventured outside more but we were feeling lazy and the cabin is perfect for that. It’s right next to a river and our dogs really enjoyed skipping over the rocks there. There is a full kitchen that is so cute because it’s petite and perfect for two people. We enjoyed the hot tub and there is a washer and dryer in the cabin as well. We will definitely be back in the future. The staff are very helpful. I highly recommended Mt Hood rentals for getting away and relaxing in nature.

Relaxing honeymoon

We cane to the cabin for our hineymoon for four days. It was a awesome and relaxing getaway for us. Great place to just kick back and relax. We decided to come to this cabin for a couple of nights on our honeymoon. The staff were very friendly, professional, and helped provide recommendations on hiking and dining spots near the cabin that we otherwise would have completely overlooked. The cabin was absolutely lovely, and the woods and river around the cabin were incredible. Simply an amazing place to wake up to each morning; we only wish that we had booked more than two nights .

My wife and I rented the Riverwood Hideaway to celebrate our 1-year wedding anniversary. The location was perfectly secluded, and right next to the lovely creek. We enjoyed the hot tub, the grill, and all of the amenities provided. We were disappointed to find the burn ban in effect, so we didn't get to make smores from the fireplace. But the only real critique I can give is the fact that there was a wasp nest forming on the bedroom balcony. But we informed the staff, and they are currently tending to it. All in all, we loved it, and we plan on coming back next year.

This liitle cabin is very cozy! The bed is really comfortable which is one of our biggest concerns when staying in a new place. The hot tub is an older model and the jets are pretty weak but still feels therapeutic after a hard day of hiking. The only thing we didn’t like is the TV, as I recall the ad said Netflix and other internet streaming options we’re in place. The internet connection works but when you try to access Netflix it wants a password which we were not provided.

My new wife and I decided to come here on our honeymoon. We both grew up in the Columbia River Gorge and we thought this might be a nice retreat both away from our current home, and also 'back' to our roots.
We were absolutely correct. This vacation was idyllic. It’s perfectly quiet, peaceful, and of course, incredibly beautiful. It’s also just the right amount away from everything: far enough to have your own sense of seclusion, close enough that it’s not inconvenient to get anywhere.
If you are drawn to rivers, breathtaking storybook forrests, an impeccably temperate climate (in the summer months), and a quiet woods retreat, this place just about made for you. If you’re a little more outgoing, there are about a million hikes, river sports, local events, restaurants, and of course, Mt. Hood itself to explore.
If I were LOOKING for something to fault: The closest grocery store isn’t very good, and is unreasonably expensive. Of course, this has nothing to do with the property itself - just be sure to pack groceries ahead of time, or be prepared to pay at least double what you usually do. But that’s honestly the strongest negative point I can find.
I’ve never been so happy with a vacation experience overall. Absolutely worth it. An ‘earned’ 5 stars in every category.

I brought my husband here for a surprise getaway for his birthday, wanted something different and unexpected. this home FAR EXCEEDED everything I envisioned! The peacefulness was none we have ever experienced before the sound of the river or rain on the roof was relaxing and calming. we both have service driven jobs and to have no one to be there for except each other was AMAZING! The ambiance of the cabin & surroundings cannot be matched, all the conveniences of home without the hustle and bustle of town, not to mention it's only an hour from home which was hard for us to wrap our heads around. we WILL be back!

Cozy perfect little home nestled in the middle of the forest. Our dog loved playing around especially when it snowed close to our last day. Enjoyed and soaked in the ambiance and tranquility surrounding us. Only issue we had was the dishwasher leaked on our first day, so we had to hand wash our dishes for the remainder of our stay.

This is a cozy and cute cabin in a fantastic, secluded, riverfront location. We did have some issues with the hot tub not heating above 98 degrees, which was disappointing. The staff was as helpful as they could be with this issue, however, and very friendly.

Sandy River Get Away

The one bedroom cabin on the sandy river was tucked away so if you didn't know it was there, you would have a hard time finding it! Quiet (except for some trucks across the river in the early morning) but for the sound of the river, it was within close driving distance to Government Camp and Timberline and shopping. We were there during a burn ban so no outdoor fires, but the kitchen had all we needed and there is a gas bbq. Netflix and Amazon access for evening entertainment. The only negative was lighting - every other bulb in the bathroom didn't work and lighting in all other rooms were lacking. W/D onsite and a nice hot tub. Relaxing 5-day getaway!

My vacation rental experience was absolutely phenomenal because of the helpful and incredibly friendly and flexible staff; I would specifically like to sincerely thank "Kayla" at the front desk for her above and beyond excellent customer service--best I've ever encountered. The river is so close that it forces your mind to convert to "mountain time" and it's location, I seriously could not imagine a better place--this secluded dream cabin is perfect for those who wish to escape from life's challenges and allows your mind to be at ease; secretly located down a hidden private unique path not visible on most GPS maps. Highly recommend making a reservation because this is the best thing I've ever experienced. Thank you so much. I'll be back again!!

We had a great vacation! the cabin was very cozy and relaxing.. the only negative thing I can say is that all the pots and pans were Put away dirty and there were cob webs everywhere and Cigarette butts and beer caps inn the yard, but other than that it was fantastic!

Entry into riverwood hideaway is a little tricky. The road is not totally easy to find. Plus the eyesore log cabin at the corner makes you wonder what you are going to find on arrival. But I really likes the cabin once there. Lighting is a little tricky if you want to read a book. The kitchen was very convenient. Bed was soft and comfy. Couch was perfect for 2. On the 2nd to last day The hot tub was nice but it suddenly got cold. Not easy to figure out the hottub controls to warm it up. THe grill ran out of gas one day and they came and filled it up but they should have tested it to make sure it was really working. It had some sort of air lock malfunction. I had to unplug the tank and reinstall it myself to make the grill work. Once I did it was fine. Minor detail but for 150 a night this should not be my problem. Despite my grumblings this was a great cabin and I would rent it again.

A Greater Peace

While the Riverwood Hideaway has been a cabin I have visited previously, there was something about this time that was refreshingly more relaxing. Perhaps it was the near complete seclusion. Perhaps it was the continuous gentle rush of the Sandy River just down the path. Perhaps it was the exquisitely temperate weather of these particular days. my wife and I went for our 2nd year wedding anniversary and obviously thought it was going to be nice but when we got there it was even better! We were both blown away with how much they provided and how close the Cabin was to the Sandy River!
We brought our dogs for which they provided leashes,treats, and "doggy bags" and they were also in love with the big yard that they sun bathed in :).
Huge fire pit in the back, and a hot tub!!
They provide Hulu and WIFI which we didnt use except for music, and worked really well. They had a few board games that we played.... I lost. Lol!
Overall it was an amazing experience, and we definitely will be going back as soon as we can!

This cabin down a winding driveway and on the river is super cute and cozy! We stayed here over President's Day weekend and even though it rained the entire time, it was a great choice! Close to skiing, hiking, biking, shoeshoeing, etc. The hot tub is a nice treat to soak your tired body after a day exploring. The cabin itself was clean and in great condition. It is small but we did make a few meals there just fine. Also, the staff at Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals is so friendly and helpful! I hesitate to recommend this place so highly because I want it to be available the next time we head to Mt. Hood!

Wonderful Experience Inspite of Everything

I though a stay at the Riverwood Hideaway was just what the doctor ordered for Valentines day. A couple of days before the trip, my wife became ill, but insisted that I go and enjoy the cabin and Mt Hood without her. Feeling about as guilty as one can sitting in a hot tube with a cocktail enjoying the rushing river, my wife's condition worsened. I decided that I need to return home early and left after the first night leaving the remaining two nights behind. Oh well, a nonrefundable reservation is just that, right? Fortunately, the wonderful ladies at Mt. Hood rental managed to re-rent the property and refunded my remaining nights. I didn't see that coming. But, thank you, thank you, nonetheless. I have rented from Mt. Hood rentals for several years and have never had a bad experience. They strive to make every guest experience one to be remembered. The only place to rent. Keep up the good work

I was able to snag the hideaway over new years and it's the best vacation I've ever taken. Total privacy, great amenities (netflix are you kidding?) Pristine hot tub, the river sounds, all of it was wonderful. Even the holiday pricing was reasonable. The staff was great at communicating with me about the availability and were incredibly nice as well.

The cabin was adorable and perfect for two people. Not too far from the ski areas either. We went cosmic tubing Friday night at ski bowl and snowboarding Saturday at Timberline. The kitchen had the perfect amount of amenities so we didn't need to go to the store to get something we might have forgotten. My whole experience with mt hood rentals has been so great, I will continue to make this a little vacation spot!

It was amazing. Friendly staff, nice cabin with a secluded hot tub, nice surroundings, very private, and very peaceful. Lots of stuff to do near by in any season, and friendly locals to give hints as to where to go. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a neighbor who gave us some vegetables from his garden and he pointed us in the right direction. This is where my fiance and I got engaged, it will surely be a trip we will never forget.

My husband and I stayed there in early October for our honeymoon. It's cute and perfect for 2 people. Having the view of the river was great. We loved the hot tub. The only complaints we had were the oven runs way too hot, the grill only has one small good hot spot in the corner, and the bed is really hard and squeeky. The staff was great and helpful. We accidently left a frame that was signed by all of our wedding guests and they mailed it back to us which I am so grateful for.
One recommendation: if you are able to, go grocery shopping in a larger town before getting to the cabin or you will spend a fortune on a few days of simple groceries.

We had an awesome time at Riverwood. The cabin was well equipped and clean. It is situated along the river and very private. The area is great for motorcycle riding. We met other bikers at Government Camp during breakfast. We met a local who helped us with an issue with my bike. He took us to his house and had a lift and tools that helped me fix the problem quickly. Thanks SuperG!

Wonderful property tucked away in a great location. Felt very private and peaceful. We really enjoyed sitting in the private outdoor space with a fire, roasting marshmallows and listening to the sound of the river. A great way to spend a couple days and unwind.
A couple things to note that could have made our visit even better- Bed mattress is old and needs to be replaced for the $ they charge and we didn't even bother with the stove after reading some of the earlier reviews. When we arrived, it was held together with white duct tape and falling apart. Also, would have been nice to have a few more outdoor chair options beyond the plastic chairs on the deck. If the above were addressed, it would make it much easier/better to highly recommend this property to others.

Only minor complaint was comfort of the couch. Other than that we loved everything about our luxurious 4 day stay. We did not want to leave!

It was a great stay. The wireless and cable wasn't working but we didn't mind. We informed them upon leaving and im sure it was fixed. Hot tub was awesome. Bed was a little old.

A Little Piece of Paradise

We were looking to get away for a weekend with no technology. Cell phones were turned off upon arrival and we never looked back. The cabin was warm and the lights on when we arrived making it feel cozy right away. The view of the river was fantastic. There was a big snow storm while we were there and we hunkered down and enjoyed the solitude. A bull elk came to visit us on the side of the cabin on Saturday - what a treat!
The only complaint I have which others have mentioned in the oven burns very hot! We actually ended up cooking on the bar-b-q grill because it got so smokey inside.
Otherwise an amazing and restful experience. We will definitely be back!

The cabin was great, but extremely overpriced! It was too small for the amount of money paid for it. Plus, the deposit fee is ridiculous. I would much rather pay a deposit and have it refunded than pay a fee for not having a deposit.

This is a great place, it's great house with everything a couple could want to get away. Worth every penny.
I really could go on an on, but there are plenty of reviews with that, the stars I give are real. So I'll point out the VERY few and SMALL drawbacks.
A tube TV? Really? While I can tell money has been spent to keep this place updated...this needs to be upgraded. A 32" could be had for $350... and would go a long ways to making it feel modern and not stuck in the 90s.
The oven runs HOT. You may set it for 400, but it will get to 450 before you know it. Keep an eye on the thermometer in the oven, it's there for a reason I have a feeling. (That said Kitchen is fairly well equipped for making most meals you might try).
Pillows are fairly firm (not from age or anything, they seem pretty new), if you like soft and plushy, bring your own. Mattress wasn't the worse thing I've slept on, but could maybe be better.
Don't let this disway you - mainly trying to give you some thoughts to plan ahead on so you can make your stay even better. We'd return for sure and likely will.

The house was pretty much what I wanted - small, in a nice area tucked next to a river, etc.; however, it did seem a bit expensive for what it was particularly when you consider the extra charges heaped on top of the nightly rate. The property management company - Mt Hood Vacation Rentals – seemed to be somewhat sneaky and deceitful by automatically adding trip insurance and security deposit protection without any indication. I expect rental charges; they need to make their money somehow, but the additional charges which totaled over 13% of the total charge seemed exorbitant. The charges were removed at my request, but I was forced to carry a 1,500 charge on my credit card as a security deposit, which again, seemed a little off of honest. Please watch the charges and make sure you are not being charged for something you don’t want or need.

Perfect Hideaway

Spent two nights at Riverwood Hideaway, and we wish we could have spent more! We loved being on the creek, and the rental unit was everything we needed for a long weekend getaway. We loved being tucked away, yet so close to adventures such as a multitude of hikes. Bed was cozy, modern woodstove gave out plenty of heat, and the hot tub was in perfect condition. Would definitely stay again!

We loved the Riverwood Hideaway! As its name describes, the cabin is next to a river and in the woods. The trees are dense enough to separate you from neighbors although we could hear trucks on the road across the river. We would definitely return and lived working Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals.

The Riverwood Hideaway provided a cozy corner of calm and a perfect place of peace. Within moments, the call of the Sandy River beckoned. The rocky banks and continuous flowing cadence offered a serene background to my relaxing stay. My own pathway to the calming waters was restful scene was only steps away. The cabin itself was simple and well appointed. It provides all of what a loving couple would need, or in my case, the single traveler required for a silent retreat.. The old growth fir trees, lush ivy and maples embrace the place to offer a true sense of complete seclusion. For two days I saw and heard no one, though there were two other cabins occupied just one acre away unseen on each side. If you need a place to meditate or reflect, there could be few better settings. A word must also be offered for the professional staff of the management of the property, as they were friendly, helpful and accommodating. From the first contact upon making the reservation to the last upon leaving, they showed genuine interest in my experience. They approached a minor maintenance issue with true concern rather than mere duty to note and fix the problem. Finally, logistically the cabin is also well located. It is literally just 15 minutes from a wonderful serene view of Mount Hood with opportunities for hiking the trails and canoeing at Lake Trilium. There are ample eateries, a grocer store, and other shops very nearby for a simple meal, to stock up for the week, or for those forgotten necessities. The ride to Portland international airport is also surprisingly easy, just a bit more than an hour away. If this review has not been obvious, I would highly recommend this simple and wonderful gem...

Riverwood - Perfect getaway for two!

This is the 4th time we have rented a cabin in Mt Hood with Mt Hood Vacation Rentals and our getaways have always exceeded our expectations -everytime! The company and staff are extremely professional, friendly and helpful and the service and "guest care" is always great and consistent - lights on in cabin, helpful directions, local attractions etc. While the cabins are always rustic, they are always well appointed with all you need and we love the hot tubs (always clean and warm!). Riverwood cabin is cosy, very private/secluded and great location on the river, and close to hiking, lake, etc. We will be back!

Great little cabin! Secluded enough to feel very private without feeling cut off. Some of the appliances could be replaced. Stove, oven, mattress, and dishwasher are starting to show their age, but are still usable... Over all though, a great place to stay!

Great location, great little cabin, great scenery, great hot tub! Any review that shows this place in a negative light must be written by an equally negative person. I will be coming back soon! If seclusion and privacy is what you want then this is the place to do it. Absolutely satisfied with the amenities such as the range, dishwasher, washing machine & dryer and the shower. Even had Direct TV satellite, but who would want to watch it when you have the beautiful scenery all around you. Two thumbs up!

Retreat close to home

For our 3 year wedding anniversary, I rented this cabin. We are nature lovers who camped for our honeymoon, so this time around I decided it would be nice to leave the hassle of setup and tear down out of the trip. Cozy, quaint, and well cared for. This small cabin held all creature comforts needed, and left no room for wanting. The hot tub was great after a day hike or a quick warm up during a fire before bedtime. Wonderful to be steps away from the river, and a minute's walk from the local store and restaurant/tavern. Short drive to numerous nature attractions. Totally worth it!
