MT HOOD VACATION RENTALS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Many frequently asked questions are answered below.

What are your cleaning procedures? All of our properties are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and disinfected between each stay following CDC guidelines. We take care to sanitize and disinfect surfaces and frequently touched items like remote controls and doorknobs, counter tops and bathroom fixtures. Our sheets, towels and linens are laundered in our commercial laundry facility. We have implemented “no-contact” check-in and check-out procedures to ensure your safety. We are available by phone and email should you need assistance or have questions. What if I need to cancel or change my reservation? Rental payments are refundable (less 30% of the total reservation rent and fees, which are non-refundable) for cancellations received 31 or more days before the first night of your reservation. For additional information, please see our rental policies. Can my dog join us at the vacation rental? Yes, many of our homes are pet-friendly. We ask that you tell us about your dog at the time you make your reservation and that you do not bring a dog into a home that is not designated as pet-friendly. We allow only dogs and they must be at least 1 year old and house-trained. There is an additional charge for the privilege of bringing your dog with you to a Mt Hood Vacation Rental. Check out our pet-friendly page to view our pet-friendly homes and policies. What is the address of the house? Check-in Information will be provided to the guest who reserved the property prior to arrival. Please note that GPS coordinates tend to be unreliable, inaccurate and often incorrectly plot the location of our office and our vacation rentals throughout the Villages of Mt Hood. Can I check in early? We will make every effort to provide an early check-in for you, however, we cannot guarantee it in advance. We typically will not know if the vacation rental you have reserved will be available early until mid-morning of your arrival day. During peak seasons we are unable to offer early check-ins. Can I check out late? We will make every effort to accommodate a late check-out for you, however, we cannot guarantee it in advance. We typically will not know if the vacation rental you have reserved will be available until the morning of your departure for a late check-out. During peak seasons we are unable to offer late check-outs. Are there minimum night stays required? We do have minimum night stay requirements which vary throughout the year. For the seasons with longer stays, we will accept shorter visits when there is a gap in-between two reservations or as we get within a few weeks of the stay dates. Our availability calendars will reflect minimum night stays when you book a reservation. Minimum 2-night stay required most of the year, with the following exceptions:
  • 3-night minimum stay during Holiday Weekends and Spring Break
  • 4-night minimum stay during Thanksgiving Weekend
  • 5-Night minimum stay during Christmas Vacation and Summer Months
Where should we go to dinner? There are over 30 restaurants, cafes, bars and taverns from fast food to ethnic to fine dining throughout the Villages of Mt Hood. Please feel free to contact us anytime for dining recommendations. Additionally, there is a Guest Guide Book in each vacation rental with listings for all restaurants, recreation, shopping and other services you may need during your visit to Mt Hood. Many restaurants and eateries are open on limited schedules with outside dining during the warm months. During the cool months, call ahead for hours and services. Most places are offering take-out. Can I have people over for the day to visit me? You may have friends and family visit during the day, however parking is limited, so you will need to make sure you do not exceed the stated maximum parking for each home. Due to our vacation rentals being on private water systems and septic tanks, we cannot have parties, weddings, receptions or events at these homes. If your friends end up needing a place to spend the night, please contact us to make arrangements. If you have not reached the maximum occupancy at the home you have rented, we can add them on to your reservation. Otherwise, we will assist them in finding another lodging option. Can I add people to spend the night at my vacation rentals? All of our vacation rentals have a maximum occupancy limit and a maximum vehicle parking limit. If you have already reached the maximums, we would be unable to add more guests to your reservation. If there is room to add guests, the nightly rate may go up, so please contact us before your friends spend the night. If your friends end up needing a place to spend the night, please contact us to make arrangements. If you have not reached the maximum occupancy at the home you have rented, we can add them on to your reservation. Otherwise, we will assist them in finding another lodging option. Do I need to bring linens? We provide all bed linens, bath towels and hot tub towels (for homes with private hot tubs). What’s in the kitchen? Every kitchen in a Mt Hood Vacation Rental is fully equipped with all appliances including a range, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, waffle maker, blender and mixer. Some homes may have additional small appliances or second ovens. Each home is fully stocked with enough pots, pans, bakeware and cooking utensils to prepare meals for the maximum occupancy of the home. Each home is supplied with enough plates, dishes, bowls, coffee cups, drinkware and eating utensils for at least 1 ½ to 2 meals for the maximum occupancy of the home. Please read Items to Bring for more details. The exception is the Riversong Retreat Guest Suite which has a kitchenette. Where is the nearest grocery store? Our main grocery store is Thriftway on the corner of Highway 26 and Welches Rd (1/10 mile east of our office). There is also a liquor store in the shopping center. The Brightwood Country Store in Brightwood is perfect for a cold beverage or snack after a day of hiking or bike riding. There is a small grocery store in Rhododendron with limited fresh food items and snacks. The Govy General in Government Camp is a small grocery store with the basics plus some fresh food items. They also have a liquor store and wine shop inside. Additionally, there is a Guest Guide Book in each vacation rental with listings for all restaurants, recreation, shopping and other services you may need during your visit to Mt Hood. How far is Mt Hood Vacation Rentals from the airport? We are about a one-hour drive east of Portland International Airport (PDX). We recommend you give yourself 2 hours (get baggage, pick up rental car, etc.) from the time you land to get to our office. Do I really need chains or snow tires to get to my vacation rental? During the winter, you should expect to drive on icy and snowy roads throughout the Villages of Mt Hood and when you go to snow-play areas and ski resorts. Why should I book direct at Mt Hood Vacation Rentals? When you #bookdirect, you will avoid additional traveler and service fees that VRBO, HomeAway, Airbnb and other online travel agencies (OTAs) add to your reservation.
