Fun Activities at Mt Hood during the Holidays

Whether you are spending a few days in a Mt Hood Vacation Rental this holiday season or just visiting the Villages of Mt Hood for a few hours there are lots of activities for you to enjoy from snow play fun (tubing, skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing) to shopping to Christmas Caroling, visiting Santa Claus and more for everyone in the family to enjoy. Beginning the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas and New Years Eve, check out our list of things to do at Mt Hood during the holidays.

Friday, November 24: 2-Hour Turkey Trot Snowshoe

Join Mt. Hood Adventure the Friday after Thanksgiving for a fun 2 Hour Snowshoe Tour! Meet your guide at the Mt. Hood Adventure Store in Government Camp (located in the Huckleberry Inn Building) at 9:30 AM to register and get your snowshoe gear (which is included in the price). At 10 AM we will head outside and begin hiking up Mt. Hood towards the Crostown Trail System!

Santa Claus is coming to town! Join Mt. Hood skibowl and the town of Government Camp, Saturday evening December 16th in the middle of town, right next to Huckleberry Inn. Santa and Frosty will arrive on a special fire engine from the Hoodland Fire Department.  The festivities start at 6:00pm as the switch is flipped and the town Christmas tree is lit up in all its splendor.  Santa will be available for the youngsters to tell him what they would like for Christmas.  Donuts and hot cocoa will be on hand provided by Huckleberry Inn.  Sign up for a romantic horse drawn carriage ride through town.

Sunday, December 31: New Year's Eve Extravaganza at Skibowl

Ring in the New Year in style with the biggest event on Mt. Hood.  Mt. Hood Skibowl will celebrate 30 years of its legendary fireworks extravaganza December 31st, 2017. The fun will be going on all day and continue until 2:00am.  A live DJ kicks off the party spinning your favorite tunes from 8:00pm to 1:00am at Skibowl west.  A torch light parade down the Lower Bowl will precede the evenings two firework displays which happen at the stroke of midnight.  Another live DJ will be spinning the hotest tunes during Cosmic Tubing at Skibowl East from 8:00pm to 1:00am. There will also be fun winter games, multiple beer gardens and a dance party that lasts into the night. Watch the spectacular firework displays at either Skibowl West or East. Ski and ride until 2:00am, and Cosmic Tube at Skibowl East until 1:00am.
